Paul Finn

This summer I am in the South of France in the Alpes Maritimes doing some drawings. I hope they develop into paintings when I return to England. The Artist Magazine has published an interview with me. It's a four page illustrated piece called Masterclass and is in the July edition which is out now. It's an excellent read. Susie Hodge, the Art historian did the interview, I have to say I'm delighted with it. I'm pleased to announce that some work is now available at the Aubrey Gallery in Dunmmow, Essex.

The House That Jack Built | Frames of Reference

http://blog.rowleygallery.co.uk/the-house-that-jack-built

A House Of Leaves. The House That Jack Built. April 28, 2015. Another book from the wonderful and sorely missed Notting Hill Books. This one was perhaps not so beloved as the last but it was one of my favourites. I always liked its folksy illustrations and the way one thing leads to another and life just inevitably gets more and more complicated. This entry was posted in Art. And tagged Henry George Hine. Nkosi Sikelel’i Afrika →. December 2, 2013. Dear Chris, I thought you might like this palette. I came across it in my shed. I had half cleaned it some time ago and left it as it looked so nice. I have always liked the working stuff which artists use. Turner’s paint box etc. I might think of a blog posting on this, what do you think? Each of your Rowley artists could send in a photo of their paint boxes and palettes! Dear Chris, Good to hear from you. Here is a palette! Best wishes, Suzy. Dear Chris, here...

B For Barcelona | Frames of Reference

http://blog.rowleygallery.co.uk/b-for-barcelona

Las Meninas →. May 4, 2014. This large letter B is on a rooftop in the Born district of Barcelona. Is it B for Barcelona or is it perhaps B for Born in Barcelona (that old Springsteen classic)? Or maybe it doesn’t stand for either, especially since it’s lying on its back. Maybe it’s B for Brossa, the Catalan poet, playwright and artist Joan Brossa. He liked to play around with letters and it seems to be on the roof of his theatre. Along the way we discovered the magnificent Mercat del Born. Next day we c...

Frames of Reference was started in 2011 by Chris Hamer and Richard Wilson as an online extension of The Rowley Gallery. It was to be a place to hang words as well as pictures, where friends and relations and associates could share their enthusiasms and perhaps make new connections. We’ll see how it goes. We hope you’ll feel inspired to contribute, either by leaving a reply below, or a comment after a particular post, or via The Rowley Gallery website. January 29, 2013 at 11:58 am. With good wishes,.

Among the opportunities for which we’re most grateful:. We are eternally thankful for your encouragement...

PG Cert in Teaching and Learning. July 18, 2012. I have found the DWPI module to be incredibly insightful and illuminating, it has prompted me to question my teaching practice and the social constructs that operate on us. Bourdieu’s concept of ‘Cultural Capital’ has been particularly enlightening in the context of Art and Design education, especially his assertion that ‘the meanings and values of culture are contingent on the context and on social conditioning producers and consumers,. My life in Norway. Wednesday, 16 April 2014. Unbelievably, this is my first blog post in almost three and a half years - the last one being when I had just bought my apartment in Stavanger. Since then, Tonys moved in, we've sold the apartment, and moved to Oslo where we've bought a new apartment - how much has happened! Credits to Tony for the photos in this post. The rather comfortable Oslo airport lounge. She gave us info on best places to go, and then at around 04:30 we finally managed to get into bed.
