The latest group of stamps has been mostly banal: from airports in the u.s. and madrid. combined with a noticable lack of working visa, these present a tell-tale history of my illegal status in spain. luckily these clues are hidden like needles in the haystack of my colorful and exotically-stamped passport so nobody seems to notice. Finally, i saw a great band the other night. they're called columpio asesino. And they're the rare spanish band i've heard that i've loved. they sound a little bit like yo la tengo, with dashes of pixies. go check it out. The FOTC episode with kristen wiig and the lost dog? So funny. another good HBO show to watch - summer heights high. only 8 episodes and super hilarious. its off air in the US now but maybe on dvd if you havent seen it? Goals: one month late. Well, it's time for the third. Listing of new year's resolutions, cleverly called goals to make them seem more inspiring and fluid. let's look back at last year's, shall we? Continue with: yoga, guitar, feeling wonderful about birthdays. Get nothing to declare to a solid 5 posts per week. bring readership up over 150 individual hits per day. Get going on writing that monthly column. Finish writing my novel in february. edit the two parts together and decide what to do with it.

Remember my new years resolutions. One of them was to send more letters and gifts, be more spontaneously caring across the large distance that separates me from many of my friends and family. and over the past months i have really enjoyed the pleasures of doing this. When i was a kid, i had to write a thank-you note. But, not everybody was raised as well as i was. and one doesn't give presents to receive thanks. so i'm willing to lower the bar here. the words "thank you" are not required! In my spare time.

Obama year of the ox = get off your ass! I've resolved to be a hard-working ox this year and stimulate my personal economy, which has fallen into recession. this plan involves trying to get paid for things i now do for free, such as writing. To get the juices flowing, i declare february "jacki blog posting month." i'm going to try to post something here every day - writing every day is a critical part of my newfound determination. Shouting at the devil. I was always dying to go to shows, but my overstrict mother wasn't having it. i'm sure the hairsprayed whiskey-slugging rockstars flipping off the camera in the posters that adorned my walls didn't help. i'm not sure what she thought happened at these concerts, but she was sure that it was dangerous, mind-polluting and definitely not appropriate for her innocent teenaged daughter.
