About Me - Paul Helm
http://www.paulhelm.com/Aboutme.htm
I spent 25 years in the printing and publishing industry, most of them with the great Mondadori in Italy. I had the privilege of working with many of the best British and American publishers to produce beautiful coffee table art books. It was in Italy that I began to soak up the culture of art. Whilst my day job involved the latest and best printing technology, in my spare time I was fascinated by the low-tech printing processes of block printing, etching and silk-screen printing. So watch this space!

Paul Helm's Art and Music blog: February 2012
http://paulhelmart.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Paul Helm's Art and Music blog. Sunday, 5 February 2012. Today I made Spotted Dick and custard for Sunday lunch. It went down well! As my first contribution to the Helm Family Cookbook, proposed by my brother Mike, I post the recipe below. It is not your classic school dinner pudding, stodgy steamed suet, but rather a lighter spongy lemony version. Different. One day soon I'll do the 'original'. There is of course a website:. And a Wikipedia entry. Heinz do a tinned version (which isn't bad at all! 8 To ...
Paul Helm's Art and Music blog: Death of Tchaikovsky
http://paulhelmart.blogspot.com/2012/11/death-of-tchaikovsky.html
Paul Helm's Art and Music blog. Tuesday, 6 November 2012. Tchaikovsky died on this day, 6 November, in 1893 aged 53 in St.Petersberg. Officially he died of cholera but for many his death was suspicious and there are various intriguing theories about the true cause. Cholera was common at the time and everyone knew that you must not drink unboiled water. Certainly for an educated man in high society it is very unlikely that he would have drunk it accidentally. Caught In The Middle
Caught In The Middle. Middle-aged, middle-class musings – somewhere in the Middle between Hungary and New Zealand. Hospitality, 1968. Photo: Fortepan. The picture was taken in 1968, location unknown. The jug and small cups look like they are drinking pálinka, or fruit brandy. Given how they are all dressed in full winter clothes, it must have been pretty cold inside. I like the smiles of the two women in this photo. They seem to be enjoying the slightly flirtatious nature of the conversation. In Hungaria...
