Stoves - PAUL'S CHIMNEY CLEANING & RESTORATION, LLC
http://www.paulschimney.com/stoves.html
Wood has heated our homes since the beginning of time, and by developing ways to control fire, humanity advanced in leaps and bounds throughout the centuries. Benjamin Franklin changed the method with which we heat our homes with his invention of the Franklin stove. Built out of cast iron, wood stoves radiate heat into the room much more efficiently than an open fireplace. And venting components, as well as roof kit installations. Remember, know what's behind your wood stove, and have it checked yearly&#...

FAQ about Chimney Relining:. What Is A Chimney Liner? Chimney liners are flexible or rigid metal venting channels. Why Is Relining Necessary? Would a Fireplace Chimney Need a Liner? Why Do You Need a Certified Chimney Technician to Install a Liner? Modern gas units are much more efficient than they were decades ...

The Home and Hearth Corner: Flue Season
http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2013/09/flue-season.html
Tuesday, September 17, 2013. If you own a wood stove or a fireplace, as soon as August's warmth vanishes in favor of September's cool winds, you know it's time to get that wood pile ready for the burning season. Nothing is better than a roaring fire on a cold autumn night as the background for family game night or to curl up with a good book. Something else is just around the corner, not nearly as pleasant as wood fires. You see the signs everywhere, particularly at pharmacies: Flu Shots Available. Think...

The Home and Hearth Corner: Summer End Blues
http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2014/09/summer-end-blues.html
Tuesday, September 9, 2014. September not only marks the beginning of another school year for kids everywhere, but it also brings with it the run around of activities, sports, music practice, and other rehearsals, and that's not even going on the autumn to do list around the house. That's right, Summer End Blues are back. You remind the kids to dress warm as you make the call to fill the oil tank, and that's when it hits you. September also marks the beginning of FLUE. Lucky for you it's not too late.

http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-power-went-out-butis-it-safe-to-use.html
Saturday, March 7, 2015. The power went out but.is it safe to use the fireplace? During a heavy snow storm, the power went out. Our furnace went silent and the temperature immediately dropped. Like everything else, our winters are evolving. Whether it's climate change or something cyclical, winter has become colder and snowier. This year in particular not only have the temperatures dropped so drastically, but many of us have been stunned by consecutive snow storms that make life less than fun. The other ...

http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2014/01/chimney-safety-faqs-how-often-should.html
Friday, January 31, 2014. How often should chimneys be serviced? According to the National Fire Protection Association, “Chimneys, fireplaces and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. The Home and Hearth Corner: Understanding Creosote
http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2013/04/understanding-creosote.html
Tuesday, April 30, 2013. If you have a fireplace or a wood stove, chances are you've heard the word "Creosote", but what exactly is it? In essence, creosote is condensed smoke. It comes from the incomplete combustion of the oils in the wood. As the smoke rises through the chimney, it cools, causing water, carbon, and volatiles to condense on the interior surfaces of the chimney flue. Creosote is black in appearance with an oily and gummy texture. States are caused by failure to clean out creosote buildup.

The Home and Hearth Corner: Chimney and Fire Safety... It's a Serious Business
http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2013/02/chimney-and-fire-safety-its-serious.html
Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Chimney and Fire Safety. It's a Serious Business. Most people would agree that sitting in their home by a nice fire on a cool crisp evening will most definitely warm the heart and home. A chimney fire is extremely dangerous. In many cases, it will destroy the chimney and spread to the rest of the home. Every year, thousands of homes are destroyed this way. It's a situation that could have been avoided with regular inspections and maintenance done by a chimney professional.

http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2013/02/avoiding-scams.html
Friday, February 8, 2013. Chimney repair and chimney cleaning scams are on the rise. Since most people know nothing about chimneys, this is a particularly easy way for scammers to cheat unsuspecting homeowners. Here's how chimney repair and cleaning scams typically work:. These con artists usually focus on concerns about carbon monoxide dangers. They often claim that it's really lucky you caught the leak now, since it could be fatal. The Home and Hearth Corner: A Quick Understanding of Chimney Liners
http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2013/04/a-quick-understanding-of-chimney-liners.html
Sunday, April 7, 2013. A Quick Understanding of Chimney Liners. A chimney needs a liner when:. A) The chimney is older and lacks clay tiles through the flue. B) The clay tile liner is damaged. C) A reduction of the passage is required in the installation of. Newer, high efficiency units. But the most important reason a chimney needs a liner is safety. Given enough time, tiles can collapse and block the passage, forcing toxic fumes to leak into the home. According to the Chimney Safety Institute of America.

The Home and Hearth Corner: Chimney Caps: A Good Investment
http://homeandhearhtcornerbypaul.blogspot.com/2013/06/chimney-caps-good-investment.html
Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Chimney Caps: A Good Investment. Protecting the top of your chimney from rain or snow going down the flue only makes sense. It's why you will find some chimneys topped with a piece of slate, and why you'll find plenty topped off with a metal cage-like contraption. But what is the right way to go? And why are they really necessary? How do you choose a chimney cap? The second important aspect is design. Restrictive models will only add to the frustration of weak draft problems a...
