Socializing: May 2015

Thoughts on social change, social capital, social enterprise, social marketing, social impact assessment, social software and other related topics. Tuesday, May 05, 2015. Further to my post. About having a numb mind, here is the response to a report that claims there are chemicals typically found in fracking fluid that have been found in drinking wells. The industry criticized the new study, saying that it provided no proof that the chemical came from a nearby well. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Thoughts on social change, social capital, social enterprise, social marketing, social impact assessment, social software and other related topics. Wednesday, February 11, 2015. I often think blogging and thinking out loud is something I want to do more. Then I log on to twitter and feel this thumping noise of shouting. It's people just trying to tell me what's right, who's stupid, who's a hypocrite. Does Exxon Hate My Children. Should I get my divestment placard. Or is the evil Bill McKibben.
Socializing: October 2012

Thoughts on social change, social capital, social enterprise, social marketing, social impact assessment, social software and other related topics. Tuesday, October 30, 2012. I can't listen anymore. It's seems like a numbing cacophony of stats from both sides that imply the other side is lying or telling half truths. But I still woke up this morning and sent of my vote, which I trust might sway the results in the swing state of Vermont. Was advertising on the NYT Five Thirty Eight blog. Cutting through t...

Thoughts on social change, social capital, social enterprise, social marketing, social impact assessment, social software and other related topics. Monday, August 10, 2015. I've always been supportive and appreciative of the open society notion. This video, Out Commitment to an Open Society in Russia. Is a nice chance to hear from people who have been working on the principles of open society long before it was cool. I can't imagine these organisations not working in the CIS or Russia. Since its existenc...

Lady V: February 2007
http://ladyvestibule.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
I've spent the day driving a white van. I've got no carpets left. I've been dancing to Edith. Posted by Lady V at 1:21 am. Links to this post. V dynasty update II. And whilst we’re on the subject of nudity, Bruno Sebastian, now three months old and on his first trip to the fleshpots of London. It was all going marvellously until he pissed on my head, which led to stern words from his Aunt V and is perhaps why he’s looking slightly scared. Posted by Lady V at 11:19 pm. Links to this post. I hear you ask.

Decline of civilisation: ER Istanbul
http://declineofcivilisation.blogspot.com/2007/07/et.html
Thursday, 19 July 2007. The hospital doors flung open, Decline being rushed into the busy ER on a stretcher carried by two Turkish paramedics, gasping for air, twisting in agony:. It's another kebab overdose! They hooked her on intravenous diet Coke immediately. Give her 20 mg of mash! Wait, she might be allergic to it! Try to neutralise the kebab with 100 mg of lager instead! We're losing her, hurry! Another kebab victim. sigh, sigh. How could you write this if you were dead? 21 July 2007 at 01:54.

He who desires but acts not, breeds pestilence. A cheery little quote from Blake at the start of a cheery little novel, just sent to the agent. All God's Children: 93,000 words on unrequited lesbian love, war, religion, sex and terminal illness. Plus a few dead babies thrown in for good measure. It can't help but be a bestseller, surely? I have 35,000 words spare in case it needs to be longer. Film rights available. I shall require careful handling in the next few weeks. Posted by Lady V at 5:20 pm.

Last night, a trip to Sadlers Wells to see Mathew Bourne’s version of Swan Lake, the one in which the swans are played by hot semi-naked men instead of anorexic chicks in tutus. I am no expert on ballet so will spare you any critique, apart from to say it was stunning and moving and made me cry. Soon after that, I started smoking fags and reading books by Sylvia Plath. I listened to The Smiths a lot and bleached my hair. I decided that an artform that was dependent on grace was probably not the b...The s...

Saturday morning. My father calls. Dad (cheerily): Hello love! I just wanted to tell you that I’ve worked out that you’re exactly a third of a century old today. Thirty-three-and-a-third-years-old. That’s thirty-three years and a hundred and twenty two days. Dad: And I thought that was interesting because. Me: Dad, please don’t start talking about Jesus again. Dad: And so you should feel quite jolly. Compared to him you’re doing rather well. I thought you might like to hear that. Links to this post.

So, sitting at my window with the baby gurgling contentedly on my lap I check my emails. I see one from the agent. I convince myself that because she emailed not called it's a no. I decide not to open it. Tears drop onto baby Bruno's head. He turns around and gives me a puzzled look. Your aunt is a failure. What? V: Oh bugger it, I'll look then. I open the email. She's read the first 100 pages. She likes it. She wants to meet. 430 next Wednesday in Soho. Posted by Lady V at 10:30 am. Links to this post.

Decline of civilisation: January 2008
http://declineofcivilisation.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 26 January 2008. And then the sky fell. Not with a thud, rip or thunder, but slowly, with deafening silence, black clouds caving in. God watching from above like a desert traveller watching an ant lion’s trap. Slowly, giving us time to understand that the sky is falling on our heads. We All but me. Who refused to believe and understand. My feet in the ground, my head pushing up hard against the sky. Almost as if catching a name of a station through a blur of lights from a speeding train.

Decline of civilisation: Negotiations
http://declineofcivilisation.blogspot.com/2007/07/negotiations.html
Monday, 9 July 2007. I have negotiated half my life for the other half. I’ve negotiated graces, big and small. I’ve negotiated spaces on dirt roads between two cars,. Between a lazy cow and death. I have negotiated passages into countries yet to come into existence. And I have negotiated checkpoint Charlies yet to grow a beard. I have negotiated imperfect grammar for perfect understanding. And I have negotiated languages in seven tongues. Yet, I have not negotiated a tongue, or a lip. 9 July 2007 at 20:48.

Family Blog of Ron Pavellas | Biographies, Histories, Memoirs
Family Blog of Ron Pavellas. Biographies, Histories, Memoirs. July 9, 2017. Late Spring, 1956. USS Bon Homme Richard, CVA-31. Steaming into port after weeks at sea is like re-awakening in a completely new life. And crossing the threshold of a new country is like entering another world. Bon Homme Richard CVA-31. September 19, 2016. I recently read an article by a person whose world changed at a young age by the event of 9/11 in New York City. My reading of her well-written memoir initiated a memory se...

Current experiences and memoirs in music, by Ron Pavellas. Americana at Stockholm’s ‘English Church’. May 28, 2012. I met John Paval. At the English-speaking Rotary Club in Stockholm. Shortly after its formation in May, 2003. I recently learned he was the artistic director of a week-long musical event in Stockholm at the English Church , as it is commonly known, or The Church of St. Peter and St. Sigfrid. I attended the first concert and was delighted with the offering. I learned that Aaron Copland.

Thoughts on social change, social capital, social enterprise, social marketing, social impact assessment, social software and other related topics. Monday, September 04, 2017. Listening to some repeat the idea the hate predominates the left because of Antifa isn't new, but it sure is tiresome. People taking anecdotal evidence from videos that lack context and putting them up as "evidence" is only part of it. The information war is real, and we’re losing it. Sums it up pretty well. Matt Pavelle: Startup Founder, CEO, CTO, and Serial Entrepreneur
What happend to the site? Maintaining a relevant website requires a serious time commitment. That doesn't really work for me as I have a number of other time commitments:. I'm a serial entrepreneur, so I'd rather be working. When I'm not working, I'd rather be spending time with my family - including my new twin daughters! When I'm not spending time with family I'd rather be outside. Hi, I'm Matt. I am a New York City based CTO. I tend to found or co-found start-ups. After the company was sold.
