From the Pavement's Edge: The Redbud Ride: Tussey Time
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-redbud-ride-tussey-time.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Friday, April 11. The Redbud Ride: Tussey Time. In honor of the Redbud Ride tomorrow (and apologies to Don Williams):. Sung to the tune of. I left Laurel County ridin' on a bicycle. Just about to lose my mind. I was goin' on to East Bernstadt, maybe on to Livingston. Where the people like them bikes just fine. My baby said I was crazy, don’t gun for Tussey lazy. I was goin' to show 'em all this time. I was born to just climb that climb. Truth be...

From the Pavement's Edge: What It's All Aboot
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/p/what-its-all-aboot.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. What It's All Aboot. What It's All Aboot. I've been riding a bike since I was seven years old.well, not the entire. Time, but a lot. If it were up to me my job would be to just ride my bike. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how to craft a resume that will shoehorn me into the position of full time bike-tourer/trail builder/mountain biker/endurance racer/cargo bike captain. Still working on the employment history and formatting…. I always m...

From the Pavement's Edge: I Hart Steep Hills!
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2013/07/i-hart-steep-hills.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Wednesday, July 31. I Hart Steep Hills! After three attempts on Hart's Orchard hill it seemed like I had a long way to go before I could ride it in a single effort. My best performance was with only one stop on my first try, but I'd not been able to pull that off in two subsequent tries. Then I got a new cassette with a 34 tooth cog versus the 32 tooth cog I'd been running all along. Those magic two teeth. Big guys like us have to take it slow.

From the Pavement's Edge: The Redbud Ride: Send Me Dead Flowers
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-redbud-ride-send-me-dead-flowers.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Wednesday, April 2. The Redbud Ride: Send Me Dead Flowers. There is no way I’m not gonna do it. You’ll think I’m nuts, but I don’t care. You’ll think you’re smarter than me, but you’re not. This choice has little to do with brains. And I think it will totally be worth the promotional value. I’m going to ride the Xtracycle in the Redbud Ride. Mayhap I will even ride it for all three of the Kentucky Century Challenge. I figure…why not? Used to I c...

From the Pavement's Edge: First Cargo Bike Ascent of Cobhill
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2014/04/first-cargo-bike-ascent-of-cobhill.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Monday, April 7. First Cargo Bike Ascent of Cobhill. A quick bit of news: over the weekend this blog reached 100,000 pageviews. Combined with the old version of this blog (jerseyguys.blogspot.com) and my old Ascentionist blog I have nearly 150,000 pageviews. The taint on my celebratory mood is that I know a good bit of these numbers represent trolling bots. Once I was sufficiently laden with expedition gear I headed off for Cobhill, 16 or so rol...

From the Pavement's Edge: Slain Giant
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2010/07/slain-giant.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Tuesday, July 20. When I dropped Mandy off at church last night I thought of it, even though the entry cover is really high. When we drove through the drive-thru at DQ to get Blizzards on the way home I thought of it even though there was no cover over the drive-thru. Five minutes later as I eased the car into the carport at home I hadn't thought about it. My bike was on top of the car. I can't believe I did that. Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

From the Pavement's Edge: Ben Sollee's Ditch the Van Tour
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2010/08/ben-sollee-ditch-van-tour.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Thursday, August 26. Ben Sollees Ditch the Van Tour. Ben Sollee, a musician from Lexington, KY, is doing a bike tour. But its not just a bike tour, but a performance tour as well. He's riding his bike around to his gigs hauling his cello as he goes. He calls it the "Ditch the Van Tour". Its a pretty cool idea and I know he's not the first musician to do this. Might try to go see him in Denver on September 5th. Thursday, August 26, 2010.

From the Pavement's Edge: Understanding Wilderness
http://pavementsedge.blogspot.com/2014/04/understanding-wilderness.html
From the Pavement's Edge. From the Pavement's Edge Archive. Friday, April 4. It doesn’t have to remain misunderstood. I know what it means for me. But what does “wilderness” mean to our society? Our National Forests shouldn’t be seen as a repository for money making potential. They shouldn’t be seen as large tree farms to wealthify a few. At the very least they should be seen for what they truly do function as: huge carbon sinks that scrub the air we need for survival of all life on the planet. But I am ...
