Writer, teacher, and music nerd. Angola to Zydeco: Louisiana Lives. Unique vs. unusual. Unique vs. unusual. On Apr 24, 2013 in Prose. I just had an unusual experience with two of the books I’m currently reading. How to Not Write Bad: The Most Common Writing Problems and the Best Ways to Avoid Them. Earlier today, I was reading Yagoda’s take on. It’s not something I’ve given much thought to: that people sometimes use. One of a kind. When they really should use the word. Yagoda writes: “Nonunique. On Why n...

Writer, teacher, and music nerd. Angola to Zydeco: Louisiana Lives. On Mar 10, 2016 in Prose. Professor Armstrong wrote about how he would miss his espresso machine back in England. What he missed wasn’t the machine itself but the chance to have a nice small, strong cup of coffee. As he put it, a decent cup of coffee. I wanted to talk to you about your journal entry, he said. His facial expression betrayed nothing. Just the quiet amusement he always exhibited. Brilliant, he added. But that won’t happen.

Writer, teacher, and music nerd. Angola to Zydeco: Louisiana Lives. On May 11, 2014 in Poems. I never knew her name. But I loved her. Because when she ascended from the water. Her long brown hair clung. To the back of her neck. And her one-piece swimsuit. She lived behind freckles. And her brown eyes. The giant concrete pond teemed. With kids – mostly white, some black –. While our parents worked. My father’s black Z28 Camaro. With a red pinstripe and T-tops. With a telescopic lens. He took the picture.

Retroment of Baron and Baroness Von D'Lucci: January 2014
http://bvdcosmicflux.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Retroment of Baron and Baroness Von D'Lucci. Monday, January 6, 2014. Greetings – This is an excuse to get writing again. Art Basel actually happened in early December but it is a fine topic for a posting. Since it was a December event the Baron and Baroness were not previously available for attendance since their Miami Beach arrival was usually scheduled for the new year. With the ‘great leap southward’ this year taking place in November, one of the top priorities was Art Basel. Rumors had been circulat...

Writer, teacher, and music nerd. Angola to Zydeco: Louisiana Lives. Why not just ask the pros? Why not just ask the pros? On Sep 3, 2012 in Signs. I’ve been trying to lay off my rants lately about signs that drive me nuts ( see Signs. But after seeing a sign at the local Home Depot that’s been up there for months, I think I’m back on the beat. There’s a few offenders I’ve been eyeballing anyway. Now, of course, I will be the first to admit that this isn’t Grammar Depot, but is this necessary?
