Gluten-Free Plus Plus: Tomato Soup
http://payingtocook.blogspot.com/2012/08/tomato-soup.html
All GF, sugar-free, and mostly vegan recipes. Wednesday, August 22, 2012. If you've taken a look around my blog, you might notice my deep and abiding love for soup. And muffins. Sadly, the way I eat these days, I don't make muffins the way I used to. (I do still make Mug Muffins. Once a week). But soup is still there for me. Except that it is 105 degrees. Is it that hot where you are? Unless it's this soup - which is served cold or room temperature. Genius! And I'm glad I did. I blended up this soup and ...
Gluten-Free Plus Plus: Tofu-Feta Watermelon Salad
http://payingtocook.blogspot.com/2012/08/tofu-feta-watermelon-salad.html
All GF, sugar-free, and mostly vegan recipes. Friday, August 24, 2012. Oh, summer. And sadly it is coming to a close. But there is still time for this delicious summer salad. So floating all over the internets this summer (I think it's funnier when internet is plural, don't you? Until I found Kathy's recipe for Tofu-Feta Watermelon Salad. Tofu marinated to be feta-ish! I made up that word and it sounds a little wrong. But go with me). My changes to the ingredients. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Gluten-Free Plus Plus: Curry Granola
http://payingtocook.blogspot.com/2012/08/curry-granola.html
All GF, sugar-free, and mostly vegan recipes. Wednesday, August 1, 2012. I am always interested in granola recipes. Really granola for breakfast seems like such a good idea. Generally granola has nuts, so it's good protein and fat. That fits my requirements. Then I found a granola recipe that was grain free, so it was a great way to also eliminate the oatmeal. Is by The Urban Poser. And it made a whole lot. Changes to the Recipe:. I used dates instead of honey. I added a tablespoon of ground flax seed.
Gluten-Free Plus Plus: July 2011
http://payingtocook.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
All GF, sugar-free, and mostly vegan recipes. Friday, July 29, 2011. Sometimes I buy tofu. And then I cook it and eat it and I think. hm, I don't really like tofu. It's really just flavorless. But I know that I should marinate it or put a sauce on it or do something to make it a little more delicious. So today, even though I didn't plan well, I took the time to marinate the tofu. I let that sit for forty-five minutes to an hour, and then I grilled the tofu. It turned out great. 1/4 onion, chopped. 1 froz...

The Professor's Armchair: When I get around to writing my memoirs, you can expect a very effusive footnote.
http://professorsarmchair.blogspot.com/2015/05/when-i-get-around-to-writing-my-memoirs.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. When I get around to writing my memoirs, you can expect a very effusive footnote. We're making progress. I hope you are getting good books ideas. Tracks by Robyn Davidson. Robyn Davidson writes about her trek across the Australian outback alone with camels in the 1970s. The idea is a bit like Wild. A woman, alone, doing a crazy, long, and difficult, physical journey. I can't recommend it. Two or Three Things I know for Sure by Dorothy Allison. I recommend it with reservations.

The Professor's Armchair: I just wish this was one of your books and you could re-write the ending.
http://professorsarmchair.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-just-wish-this-was-one-of-your-books.html
Saturday, May 16, 2015. I just wish this was one of your books and you could re-write the ending. Shifting away from fiction today! Shadows at Dawn by Karl Jacoby. But it was extremely difficult for me to read. I don't think I had the necessary mental capacity at the time, but it also was pretty dry. I recommend it with major reservations. Quiet by Susan Cain. Rocks in the jar! This was a great read. Very easy and clear and informative. I highly recommend it. Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. Anticancer by ...

The Professor's Armchair: But not a movie I have to read, I get enough of that from books.
http://professorsarmchair.blogspot.com/2015/07/but-not-movie-i-have-to-read-i-get.html
Friday, July 10, 2015. But not a movie I have to read, I get enough of that from books. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. A World War II tale about a blind French girl and a young German man. The novel switches back and forth between them as they grow up and as the war takes over their lives. I highly recommend it. Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloane. I highly recommend it. Shakespeare Saved My Life by Laura Bates. Laura Bates writes a memoir of her time teaching Shakespeare cours...

The Professor's Armchair: June 2014
http://professorsarmchair.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 2, 2014. I might want to steal this, write a book and get famous. Today, at the beginning of June, I bring you a varied and eclectic round of book reviews. There's been some interesting reading this month. The Heart of Christianity by Marcus J. Borg. A Pastor's look at Christianity in a modern world and with a modern perspective. In addition to the writing, I really liked his perspective. It resonated a lot with me. My Fair Lazy by Jen Lancaster. You may remember when I read The Tao of Martha.

Monday, September 29, 2014. You know, you have goals. You have dreams. I don't have a dream. Since I was writing book reviews, I thought I might as well make a note about my goals. Hahaha. Ok, I've just been wondering if I'm doing anything with these goals, so this is really just a way to review what I said my goals actually are. Goal 1: Deal with stress better. Part 2: Read The Power of Now. I finally finished it! Yay for a goal accomplished! Read the full review here. Part 1: The Gratitude Jar. Things ...

Thursday, December 18, 2014. Using Diet to Cure Skin Cancer. This is the second part in my series about having skin cancer and trying to cure it without having 10 surgeries on my face. If you read the previous post, you know I'm still waiting for my surgery, but I wanted to write this second post, because in addition to using the essential oils on my cancerous spots, I have made some changes to my diet. So let's back up. Here are the basics:. 5 I don't drink alcohol. 6 I cook. This means I don't eat ...

http://professorsarmchair.blogspot.com/2015/05/i-brought-you-some-books-on-tape-since.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. I brought you some books on tape since you say you can't concentrate to read. Props to you if you are still reading these. This is the final installment of the book reviews (until I decide to write a bunch more.). To explain a little bit about the audiobooks: I found that I was having a really hard time falling asleep, and one thing that I discovered helped (helps? The Eight by Katherine Neville. Friday, December 6, 2013. You need to be better than the best. It's time of year for everyone to post their "Best of" lists. And I'm no exception. So today, I reviewed the books I read this year (73 for a new personal record! And compiled for you my list of the best books I read this year. For 2012's list, click here. The Professor's Armchair: March 2014
http://professorsarmchair.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 2, 2014. Let me guess, phase one is positive thinking, visualizing goals. And the beginning of March is a good time for an end-of-the-month report on my goals as well. Goal 1: Deal with stress better. I'm continuing to do yoga 3-4 times each week. It is really helping me, and I am doing better at remembering that it is totally worth the time I put into it. From the months of January and February, I have 34 rocks in my yoga jar. Part 2: Read The Power of Now. Part 1: The Gratitude Jar. I spe...

Wednesday, July 2, 2014. You used Quicken to manage books for a business this size. The beginning of a new month, and of course I'm thinking about book reviews. Mostly because that is way more fun than thinking about packing. Oh, and let me explain this month's excitement: I discovered audiobooks for free from my library that I can download straight to my phone! Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northrup. This is a powerful story. Northrup is very thorough as a narrator so he provides a lot of details&...

My Rent Experience
Friday, October 18, 2013. Last night was our last night rehearsing at Upstage. The space was such a big part of creating this show, leaving it feels almost like leaving a cast member behind. From the first hot, sweaty "read through," when we worked together to make a usable space for ourselves, WHERE we were influenced WHO we were. Kudos to our director for that - it was brilliant! Monday, October 14, 2013. Home is where the heart is, they say,. It's where you hang your hat. No place like it. Some time g...
