It's a Religion! After a fairly heavy curry and beer night I was surprised how sprightly I felt at 0715hrs today when my alarm went off! The thought of Little Ringed Plover and Yellow Wagtail being found on my patch the day before (by someone else! Was a big factor in dragging my sorry ass out of bed. It's a Religion! Author Archives: Paul Freestone. Porthgwarra – 10th September 2016. I decided late morning that the kids needed a bit of fresh air and there’s nowhere fresher than Porthgwarra on a nice day. Especially when there’s bird to be seen too! The sun was out by the time we arrived in the car park and the girls enjoyed picking Blackberries on the way up to the moor, where I soon located the Dotterel. 232) on the main path. It's a Religion! Wheatear Demise and a few Summer Migs. Sparrowhawk, before the kill! On my Gwithian Patch yesterday. (see picture) However, I wasn’t overly impressed to see it take a stunning male Wheatear. Shortly after this photo was taken. The Wheatear had escaped its first attack and was hiding in a small patch of bramble below the Sprawk. Unfortunately it then tried to make a break for it only to fall prey to the waiting killer! Monday, 23 February 2015. Monday 23rd February - Wrapping Up. I'm back home now after an uneventful last day. The weather on Saturday was properly stormy with a great looking sea on view at Pendeen. We however had to soldier on with shutting down the cottage. The only bird news of note was that I saw the pair of Choughs again down by the cliffs as I was packing the car. Monday, 3 August 2015. Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd August. Common Scurvygrass growing by the lighthouse. Sharp-angled Peacock skulking in the Blackthorn. Part way along the walk we came across several Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries feeding away and offering some great views - it's always nice to see these diminuative Fritillaries. Friday, 31 October 2014. Friday 31st October: Pendeen, Penberth and Drift. Despite the near gale-force winds I ran the moth trap last night and was amazed that. I actually caught this Angled Shades and a Feathered Ranunculus. On yesterday's walk I came across this flower which turns out to be Musk Storksbill,. A relatively scarce flower that is found mainly in coastal areas. Thursday, 30 October 2014. Thursday 30th October: Pendeen. This Grey Wagtail was hanging about near Boat Cove. At last a better day!
