pcox design: June Side Trade - gift tags
http://pcoxdesign.blogspot.com/2013/06/june-side-trade-gift-tags.html
Friday, June 21, 2013. June Side Trade - gift tags. Have you ever seen something really cool and think you want to try it. So you go to the store and buy all the materials to make it and then chicken out or just forget about it? Well that's not true. Digging through my supplies, I found packages of different sized gift tags. Whoops. Good thing this challenge came along! So we had to make two different styles to trade. Easy enough. Uh no. It's something new so I have to suffer anxiety over it. View my com...
pcox design: Graffiti ATC - Typography
http://pcoxdesign.blogspot.com/2013/07/graffiti-atc-typography.html
Thursday, July 11, 2013. Graffiti ATC - Typography. Oh man. Now I have to move outside the comfort zone again! Insert moaning and gnashing of teeth here! Don't get me wrong. I love typography - when someone else does it. But when I have to do it - well it has to be perfect and I can't do perfection . . . . Ok OK so the award for best dramatic performance goes to ME! I am actually pretty pleased with my interpretation of this theme. If you want to check out the others versions, swing on by our blog.
pcox design: July 2013
http://pcoxdesign.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 11, 2013. I think I have a problem! One of the side trades in our group was to do a 6" x 6" mixed media piece which included hand stitching. The inspiration came from the challenge posted in Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine. If we love what we made, then we could in turn, enter it into the challenge. I was not prepared for how much I would love the size! I have finished four and have another four more in the works! I hand sewed a few leaf shape beads on top for the complete finish. I sketch...

http://pcoxdesign.blogspot.com/2013/09/prayer-flags.html
Monday, September 2, 2013. Deadlines are wonderful motivators to finish things off. That and school starting, a new job and less time. Amazingly enough, i have this VERY flag hanging on a selvage string with 6 or 7 others all made by artists like me and you! Tomorrow 3 friends and clients are coming over to make their own prayer flags and guess what? I am going to show them the string to inspire their art in fabric and paint and ! pcox design: Cyber Fyber Round II
http://pcoxdesign.blogspot.com/2008/05/cyber-fyber-round-ii.html
Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Cyber Fyber Round II. I saw a posting by Arlee Barr about Cyber Fyber on the Fiber Arts/Mixed Media website. So I decided to check it out. Well it turns out that Susan Lenz. And received it yesterday! And in return, I sent my going green postcard challenge postcard. I finally finished it because my honey bought me a new sewing machine! Now, that's serendipity for you! The image you've posted doesn't do it justice either! What are those tree trunks made from anyway! I am a wife an...

Quilts, Farming, Birds and Life. Look who came to see us today:. I have been seeing this Common Flicker for several days, but today was the first time I got to photograph him. Our American Smoke is particularly beautiful this year. Yesterday, Steve’s brother came to help him move some farm implements and other crap. While he had help, I convinced Steve to get my 25 yr old couch out of this house. Steve wondered if a bear might want to sleep on the burn pile! He will light it when it isn’t so windy. Go ah...
Fabricadabra: March 2008
http://materialeyes.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 30, 2008. I have been stuck on this module for months. I absolutely cannot find a way to enjoy doing it. What has to be done- hand quilting- is not fun on this piece and is extremely time consuming. Catherine, my tutor, has told me to get rid of some of the layers. But I have no vision for this. By Friday I pledge to have the quilting completed and posted or no more flickr for a week! Links to this post. Tuesday, March 11, 2008. PS Will someone please rescue me from the clutches of flickr!
Fabricadabra: July 2009
http://materialeyes.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 20, 2009. It's Time to Put My Feet Up! I see this is my first post in over a year. My excuse: My intention was to start taking photos to inspire my quilting. You will notice the previous posts are 100% quilting. I have completely fallen off the quilting bandwagon. Money (and time) that went into quilting has been diverted to photography. For those of you considering photography I have one warning - It's more expensive than quilting! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Art of the ...

Fabricadabra: Accepted Unexpected
http://materialeyes.blogspot.com/2008/03/accepted-unexpected.html
Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Today, I received the two, official rejection letters in somewhat bulky envelopes. To my shock, since I had already reconciled rejection, both entries had been accepted! My first time entering a juried show and twice lucky. It makes turning 50 tomorrow a little easier to bear. I posted this dancing anthirrium on flickr but it seems appropriate that it should do its dance in this post. PS Will someone please rescue me from the clutches of flickr! Quilts, Farming, Birds and Life. Finally, some decent shots of our Indigo Bunting. Purple Finch and Wilson’s Warbler. Yesterday, I got photos of a Purple Finch. And a Wilson’s Warbler. Another new-to-me bird. I saw this gray catbird all day today. I finally took my camera out and got a couple of pictures of it. It is always a thrill when I see a bird that I have never seen before. And an even bigger thrill when I am able to get pictures of it! The barn components were delivered. All the poles are up.
Fabricadabra: December 2007
http://materialeyes.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 20, 2007. The wind must have blown it open. No wind. I wandered through the house a bit to see if I felt a presence. I didn't. But I did decide I would be safest outside so I stood outside in absolute stillness and silence for 5 minutes until I started shivering. Should I call the police? Should I wake up my husband to help me check the house? Should I check the house myself. No. No. and Yes. I am not brave I am an idiot! Links to this post. Wednesday, December 19, 2007. I extracted a ...
Fabricadabra: February 2008
http://materialeyes.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 10, 2008. I was looking forward to doing the English Patchwork/Colour Exploration activity as soon as I saw it. I chose a photo by TIO, a New York photographer. He has kindly allowed me to use his vibrant image of a Santeria dancer. (I only know him as TIO.) This is the link to his picture. http:/ www.flickr.com/photos/66179962@N00/1840462551/. Objective: Observe and note colour gradations, patterns, textures, accent colours and proportions of colour in an image that has strong appeal.

But a few caught my attention when looking at them up close. The patterns on some have spots on the bottom wings that look to me like eyes. I love eyes and I love drawing them. They are so expressive. There was my starting point! Well after the color went on, I outlined everything with a finepoint black micron pen&#...
