SCENE FROM THE TRAIL. Pacific Crest Trail 2013. KOKO and The Bald Guy's 2013 Challenge. View my complete profile. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. We struggled our way to the top and agreed that our mental and physical experiences on the PCT greatly helped us tackle this challenge. We never once doubted we could do it or considered quitting. A few years ago, I don't think I would have made it. People still ask us about our hike, if we've changed. Physically? You got it.we still love hiking! We got an early star...

More than a Pile of Rocks | Chinchilla and Pyrite

More than a Pile of Rocks. This entry was posted on October 15, 2013 by Kit. It isn’t just a pile of rocks. Inside are rooms where people slept, ate, gave birth, lived out their lives a long ago time. On some walls are messages carved in the stone; or paintings, filling in the details of what it was like thousands of years ago. 8220;One day we found thousands of shark teeth. It must have been an inland sea that dried up.” Carole tells us, her eyes lit up. El Malpais is where the lava broke through, there...

Thoughts from a Long Hike | Chinchilla and Pyrite

Thoughts from a Long Hike. This entry was posted on November 4, 2013 by Kit. Things learned or reminded of from this long-hike:. Start: walk a lot. When you get to the end: stop. If you are a woman, learn to pee standing up. It saves time. If you do pee standing up, try to learn how to do it so as you don’t pee on yourself. If you do pee on yourself hope you can find a partner who will tolerate you. Long-distance hiking is about walking a lot of miles to get from one place to another. Kit, please tell me...

A Clay Jar: Reliability of the New Testament
http://aclayjar.blogspot.com/2013/12/reliability-of-new-testament.html
Thoughts about life, God and whatever else happens to strike my fancy at any particular time. Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Reliability of the New Testament. Most of Christian doctrine (teaching) is based on the Bible, primarily the New Testament. As a result, the opinion a person has about the Bible, particularly the New Testament, is going to dramatically affect their opinion concerning the validity of Christian doctrine. Unfortunately, it is not possible to prove that the New Testament is true. So, in m...

Thoughts about life, God and whatever else happens to strike my fancy at any particular time. Friday, May 8, 2015. The San Gabriel Mountains - Cajon Pass to Mill Creek Summit. The first day out of Cajon Pass was going to be long, 22 miles with about 5500 feet of elevation gain in the first 18 miles. I started up the trail at about 5 am, a bit before sunrise. I seldom walk by headlamp, so this was pretty interesting. At one point this blooming cactus loomed at the side of the trail. I found this unusual, ...

Thoughts about life, God and whatever else happens to strike my fancy at any particular time. Friday, May 29, 2015. Making Sense of it All. But does it really matter what you believe about how our universe, and life, came to exist? Is it more than just an academic question? While I believe that some aspects of the question are academic, I also believe that there are some real practical issues involved as well. Why is there life in this universe? Why do we have the ability to think rationally? But ultimat...
