Travels in slo-mo land. The least populated and least developed nation in Southeast Asia, landlocked Laos only opened its doors to the outside world a decade ago. It's the kind of place where many people live in huts made from bamboo and thatch, where the Mekong River is still the main highway, and where Buddhism rubs up uneasily against Communism. It's also not the kind of place you can see in a hurry. It's a land locked in perpetual slow motion.
