The Peacock Boat

Monday, February 1, 2010. Photos by Hoi Kishu. By Ima Tenko and Kiraza. March 20 and 21 at 7pm. March 21 and 22 at 3pm. The piece draws from the symbols of the peacock as a powerful creature able to overcome obstacles and the boat as the means to hope. These images are metaphors for lives of the geisha, who once inhabited the walls as well as us the audience. The Peacock Boat includes live shamisen, costumes reconstructed from old kimonos and dresses and original choreography. 090 9708 9768 (English).

Mitsu Salmon 光 さけ: November 2008

http://lightsake.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Mitsu Salmon 光 さけ. Performance, video and writings. Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Currently I live in Kyoto, Japan where I moved two years ago in order to get in touch with my roots. My mother is originally from Japan, but moved to the USA as a young child. Kyoto is an exquistely beautiful place and I constantly struck with the gorgeous details in daily life, from the packaging of my food to the ordaments in a women`s hair. One of my main ways to enter the culture is by studying butoh dance with Ima Tenko.

Friday, 8 November 2013. Memories of Summer 2013. The plum trees were heaving and we didn't even have to move off the spot before we had filled two punnets. The cherry trees were unreal, I've never seen so many cherries in one place. There were quite a few wasps around too so we had to pick carefully. Then the girls had a little paddle in the stream which was remarkably clean and very shallow, and a bit cold. So there we have it, roll on Winter. x. Tuesday, 1 October 2013. The above photo is of the 50 me...
