Anticipation | Todays Thought

Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:27 pm. It was early evening and I was tired. Waiting until the last minute to get ready, my desire to stay home increased with each passing moment. In the bright lights of the bathroom, I brushed my teeth to a minty shine, washed the cares of the world away in a steamy shower, and decorated my person. With chic boots in place, the transformation of body and mind was complete. I was eager to go. Entry filed under: Miscellaneous Stuff. 8 Comments Add your own. You disappear...

Because I’m a Patron of the Arts…. Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:13 am. During spring break the kids and I spent some time in the great outdoors soaking up the beautiful sunshine, accumulating vitamin D, and plucking, digging, and chucking giant weeds. But how does this make me a patron of the arts? Pay close attention, this explanation is even more convoluted than usual. Here was the landscape before. Notice the dead shrubs and half of a stop sign . Before there were lots of weeds… and weird shadows.

My Questionable Parenting Skills | Todays Thought

My Questionable Parenting Skills. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12:00 am. After years of inept parenting, deplorable habits, abject laziness, and indulgence in mind rotting television, I have decided to take a parenting class to see if I can undo years of incompetence. I mean, they ‘ve got a couple more years before they graduate and leave home. It’s not too late, is it? Keep it down so I can hear what’s going on! Her routine.”. Weird expressions crossed their faces and they shared quizzical glances befor...

Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2:00 am. Now I’m not the biggest roller coaster fan in the world. I have pretty much convinced myself that I’m too old to go whipping through the air and careening towards the earth at high speeds simply for the fun of it. Nonetheless, there are a few things that I am willing to try at least once in my lifetime. While at Bush Gardens in Tampa, our cousins insisted that Hubby and I explore the big rides while they kept the kids company on the smaller ones. Wow! As the line prog...

Seriously, Where Can I Rent a Mongoose? Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 12:00 am. Inhale deeply. Enjoy the fresh air. Nature in all of its glory… ummm, what’s that creepy looking thing over there? During the first week of staying in our new home, my oldest daughter ran in through the back door yelling “SNAKE! 8221; Of course, without asking if she’d been bitten, I yelled ” close the door behind you! 8221; Don’t worry, she was just fine. But how come no one closes the door behind them? From the finger where...

Spring Has Sprung | Todays Thought
https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2010/03/15/spring-has-sprung
Monday, March 15, 2010 at 12:00 am. Spring has sprung here in Austin. The signs are everywhere. The birds are getting really noisy. Although the grass is still dead, ground covering weeds are sprouting flowers everywhere. My shoe is in the shot to show how small most of the flowers are. Wildflowers are getting in on the action. Is wildflower a euphemism for weed? The trees are budding. For now, I’ll just enjoy the flowers. Now that I’ve seen my shadow, does this mean that winter is finally over? 20 Comme...

Salad for St. Patrick’s Day Anyone? | Todays Thought
https://erasundar.wordpress.com/2010/03/17/salad-for-st-patricks-day-anyone
Salad for St. Patrick’s Day Anyone? Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 12:00 am. I’ve decided that I should take the nutritionists’ advice about adding more greens to my diet. Take a look at a few of the beauties that we’ve been cultivating with absolutely no effort. Among the rocks…. In the dead Dead DEAD grass…. If you squint your eyes. This one kinda looks like cilantro. Couldn’t these pass for young chives? This is what the grocery salad looks like. One to two decades! Is salad green enough for ya? Wednesd...
