Pearson Ariel: Weatherstripping Kit Order Form

The Association has reproduced the weatherstripping used by Pearson on Ariel yachts. It is being made available in kits containing ten feet of a larger extrusion for the lazarette hatch and seven feet of a smaller extrusion for the forward cabin hatch. Each extrusion is cut 6 inches longer than necessary to allow for possible variation in hatch rim circumference. To order, simply fill out the form below, print it and mail it back to us. Thirty plus years in salt water and electrically hot marinas is causing corrosion induced failure in the Ariel's upper rudder shaft. The shaft is made from marine bronze stock, and it is fastened to the rudder board with bronze wood screws and bolts. The Association has duplicates of the original Ariel - Commander rudder post bearing produced in Delrin, a modern composite plastic. The bearing comes complete with the required "O" rings. A new bearing will eliminate most, if not all, of the looseness in the rudder shaft and will prevent any water from entering the cockpit through the rudder post. About the Pearson Ariel. Rudder: Part 1 of? January 21, 2014. You may recall from an earlier post that “Old Salt” needs a new rudder. First step is to pull the old one off, and as with everything else boat related, easier said than done. The rudderstock drops into a lead shoe on the base of the keel, and is prevented from moving fore or aft by a copper strap about halfway up the stock.
