In Memory of Alanna DeMella. Kindergartners line up on the first day of school. The school day begins at 8:10 AM, when the first bell rings, and ends at 2:30 PM. Every Tuesday is an early release day at 1:00 PM. In case of inclement weather, grades K-2 assemble in the gym and grades 3-5 assemble in the cafeteria. In Memory of Alanna DeMella. In Memory of Alanna DeMella. Alanna was a teaching assistant in the third grade co-taught classroom at Peirce. In March 2012, she was on vacation in Florida with her husband when the building she was in was hit by an out of control automobile. She was seven months pregnant, and both she and her baby died.
