Een vaak voorkomend verschijnsel is dat na 10 jaar de eerste problemen met verlichting komen. U kent het wel, de voetjes breken af doordat het plastic is uitgehard, het voorschakelapparaat gaat kapot doordat een kapotte lamp voordurend probeert te starten en/of de isolatie van de bedrading wordt hard en brokkelt af wat weer kortsluiting kan veroorzaken.
