Modelling the Canada Atlantic Railway into Pembroke in Proto:87
Stock Storage – Pembroke:87
https://pembroke87.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/stock-storage
Modelling the Canada Atlantic Railway into Pembroke in Proto:87. I’ve been meaning to write this up for years, and a recent thread over at Model Railroad Hobbyist. Has encouraged me to finally post something on the topic. If you’re reading this blog, you probably have a collection of long narrow packages of strip styrene, scale lumber, maybe some brass wire and tube and so on. If you do any serious building, you want to keep a stockpile of all the various dimensions, but how to organize them? One day I m...
Finish layer on turntable steelwork – Pembroke:87
https://pembroke87.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/finish-layer-on-turntable-steelwork
Modelling the Canada Atlantic Railway into Pembroke in Proto:87. Finish layer on turntable steelwork. Well, I screwed up my courage, and finally blasted it. The first coat wasn’t my best, and so, I blasted it again. The second coat was acceptable (though, I am clearly out of practice! Here is the result, which will probably turn into an undifferentiated black mass once it’s in the pit under layout lighting. July 21, 2015. August 27, 2015. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. How not to drive your turntable – Pembroke:87
https://pembroke87.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/how-not-to-drive-your-turntable
Modelling the Canada Atlantic Railway into Pembroke in Proto:87. How not to drive your turntable. To recap of where we are:. The gears started spinning on their shafts. Because the shafts are round, and well, there is too much torque to overcome in the lazy susan. To overcome the spinning problem , I drilled and pinned the gears. Then the whole mechanism had stiff spots, but kind of worked. I reasoned that the output shaft from the gearbox was not perfectly aligned with the input shaft for the turntable.
Straight and even turntable ties – Pembroke:87
https://pembroke87.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/turntable-ties
Modelling the Canada Atlantic Railway into Pembroke in Proto:87. Straight and even turntable ties. Here are the ties all Weldbonded to the turntable steelwork. I wonder how the real ones were affixed? For sure, they were as straight and even as the workers at the time could make them. The four long ties are there to support the push bars. Once the push bars have been installed, they will be trimmed. I also need to do something about the end ties, which must be concave to match the pit wall. B...You are c...
Totally Unacceptable! – Pembroke:87
https://pembroke87.wordpress.com/2015/07/02/totally-unacceptable
Modelling the Canada Atlantic Railway into Pembroke in Proto:87. There is nothing quite like a coat of primer to show you where all the blemishes on a model are. I’d been trying to find time to get a coat of primer onto the turntable for several days, and Canada Day finally presented an opportunity some time between the parade and the fireworks. I had thought (hoped? July 2, 2015. August 10, 2015. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

The Model Railways of Oly Turner and Chris Matthews. Finescale (ish) Modelling in 4mm Scale by two friends. July 18, 2015. It has been a fair few weeks since I finished my 33/2, so what have I been doing? In terms of modelling, not a great deal. Chris is currently working on a plan for a proper exhibition layout for me, as when it comes to plans he is most definitely the man. There will be a write up in due course from Chris on some tips for layout design. My tip is to know Chris Matthews. The first unit...

KETTLE VALLEY MODEL RAILWAY. Wednesday, 23 April 2014. SOME OF THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. Basic Train-ing For Operations - 2. It is apparent that only a few model railroaders are familiar with the rules concerning the use of bells and whistles by train crews. Perhaps this is a result of sound-equipped locomotives only becoming available in the last few years. In an attempt to further enhance our enjoyment of model operations, here are a few. Probably the most familiar signal to railfans and model railroader...

KETTLE VALLEY MODEL RAILWAY. Sunday, 31 May 2015. One hundred years ago on May 30, 1915, the first passenger train arrived in Penticton to much fanfare. This was the first of many trains to run on the Kettle Valley Railway which had a most important hand in developing the interior of British Columbia. Sadly as we all know the railway did not last forever but there continues an abiding interest in all things KV. This image is courtesy of the Okanagan Archive Trust Society. Large rivers and gorges.
