You hear crackles in the right lower lobe; there is no wheezing. CXR shows no infiltrates. Do you diagnose a “clinical pneumonia” with false negative CXR and treat with antibiotics? Do you treat radiograph negative "clinical" pneumonia. No, I only treat if the CXR has an infiltrate. Yes, I would treat this child with Amoxicillin or Augmentin.
