Fly Fishing in Western Pennsylvania. The Fish Are Always Right. I just read a short write-up about the World Fly Fishing Championships over at PAFlyFish.com. A part of it. But getting back to the tournament.why is it that the fish have a knack for putting us in our place? Apparently, for the Scots, that place is third. In return, and keeps us coming back for more. Though a bottle of fine scotch whisky and those two ladies in the plaid skirts make a pretty good incentive too. Links to this post. As we fis...

Fly Fishing in Western Pennsylvania. Fly Tying Tutorial: Laser Fly. Sorry about the truly horrendous image quality. I took roughly triple the amount of shots seen here and the force wasn't strong with me. Maybe I'll try again soon and replace the shots, but for now, they give you a decent visual aid as to what's going on. Just pretend that Monet does my visuals. Anyway, here it is:. Mustad 36890, Size 8. 8/o Uni-thread, black. Laser yarn, usually 2 colors. Links to this post. Blogumulus by Roy Tanck.

Fly Fishing in Western Pennsylvania. In the Loop Gear Review: Orvis Wonderline Generation 3 Trout Fly Line. When I made my first major purchase in fly fishing, it was a new reel. It came naturally, that my second major purchase would be a new fly line for that reel. Well, that reel was a Battenkill Mid-Arbor, and that line, as luck would have it, was a Wonderline Generation 3 line in WF5F. Links to this post. Blogumulus by Roy Tanck. Green Man and a Sun Grown. Fly Fishing in Western Pennsylvania. A Short Trip to Twin Lakes. I decided to fish Twin Lakes for a little bit today before the rains blew in, and I'm very glad I did. Twin Lakes is a local county park with two lakes (surprise, surprise! I parked, assembled my rod, and swapped out my boxes of nymphs and dries for a bos of lures, hooks, and jigheads and a ziplock bag full of smaller bags of little crappie tubes. Starting off with a little pink and white tube, I headed out. . Links to this post. So I tie...

The Fly Fishing Tidbit Search Engine. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Yep, Brown Trout in the Arki are in pre-spawn behavior no doubt. Fish are eating pretty much anything you put in front of them. Pictured above are a nice pair taken on the classic 20-Incher. Still this pattern has to be one of the best stonefly imitations for freestone rivers! Friday, September 14, 2012. http://royalgorgeangler.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
The Fly Fishing Tidbit Search Engine. Saturday, February 09, 2013. Ok folks, I am so ready for what is to come in the next month or so! It is going to be a huge Spring on the Arkansas this year.and Stoneflies are going to kick it off in a big way! This is unbelievable, but we are already seeing fish really start to key and feed heavily on Stoneflies, even in Bighorn Canyon. What Can this mean? We have been warmer than average. Although our long term forecast for this month and March predicts good pre...
