Lets Talk Movies: January 2007
http://lets-talk-movies.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Well its Academy Award time! I went to see DreamGirls tonite.I was around for the Broadway version.saw it several times. I have to say that the movie did it justice. The new songs - all of which are nominated for best song if I'm not mistaken - were lovely and fleshed out the Broadway version beautifully. Eddie Murphy is fantastic as Jimmy "Thunder" Early and Jennifer Hudson - what more can I say about her performance - amazing she looks like she's been doing this all her life.

Lets Talk Movies: July 2005
http://lets-talk-movies.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 16, 2005. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Well, all I can say about this film is "Terrific". Who cares what the critics have to say about it.go see this film anyway. I truly enjoyed Johnny Depp's characterization of Willy Wonka.try to convince me he didn't model it after Michael Jackson! Freddie Highmore is wonderful as Charlie Bucket. The chemestry between them is great. (see Finding Neverland). I liked it, and I can't wait to see it again. Posted by iCare at 5:03 PM. War of the Worlds.

Lets Talk Movies: March 2005

Sunday, March 20, 2005. Well, its been a while but I finally got to see Robots. all I can give it is a rousing.OK. Not great, but ok. The film out (you people who know about how movies are edited and produced these days will know what that means) was too low resolution. That translated to a general blurryness of the overal look, and during the action scenes, the animation elements faded out entirely! All in all I have to give Robots a B-. Posted by iCare at 7:01 AM. Hey who doesn't like movies?

Lets Talk Movies: February 2006
http://lets-talk-movies.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 18, 2006. Well I've not felt so ambiguous about a film in a long long time. Wonderful performances were given by Sam L. Jackson and Marianne Moore, but this does not save the film from wishy washy oblivion. Perhaps the worst of the flaws was that the film makers, it seems could not figure out where or how to end the film. Not a good view, I don't even recomment it for DVD. Posted by iCare at 9:46 PM. Monday, February 13, 2006. The film takes place in London between WW1 and WW2. The fir...

Lets Talk Movies: April 2005

Saturday, April 30, 2005. The HItchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. This weekend was the open for The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. We were waiting with mild skepticism for this one. I'm happy to report that it was terrific! The credits give Douglas Adams as writer of the Screenplay, dunno if that's true because I believe he had passed by the time this was made. The story covers pretty much the whole first book, ends with a hint at a sequel, we'll see, fingers crossed. Posted by iCare at 3:50 PM. Neither h...

Lets Talk Movies: March 2007

Sunday, March 04, 2007. Ok this is a sily little move.with many flaws.but I still LOVED it! I needed to be entertained and I was entertained start to finish in a good way. The animation is very interesting.I mean how DO you make a skeleton look like its on fire and wearing bike leathers which do not consume in the fire and do in convincingly? Ah yes there were flaws.BUT. There is a great scene where they ride together across the desert, both in flames. Awesome. Posted by iCare at 7:24 AM.

Lets Talk Movies: June 2005
http://lets-talk-movies.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Land of the Dead. Hm, its hard to have an opinion on this film.but over all I have to say: "disappointing". I mean it is nice to revisit our favorite walking dead. But that's about it for this film. There is no individual character to it. There is nothing special about this one, as compared to the Dan O'Bannon version, Return of the Living Dead with its tongue firmly rooted in camp or of course compared to the venerable masterpiece, the original, Night of the Living Dead. I like...

Lets Talk Movies: May 2005
http://lets-talk-movies.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 30, 2005. What a fun movie! The animation is wonderful.the dialog has jokes for "us" and jokes for the kids. Darn you all to heck! Charlton Heston would have loved it. The penguins serve as a greek chorus, showing up when a moment of silly distraction is needed. The lemurs are funny. As three vegetarians and a carnivore try to adapt to life on Madagasgar, and as the lion's true nature begins to surface, all the other animals become steaks with legs! Posted by iCare at 10:10 AM.
