princess anne county: more shade...
http://princessannecounty.blogspot.com/2015/04/more-shade.html
Life on the redneck riviera. Monday, April 27, 2015. I've been obsessed with finding the perfect, affordable lampshade for the last several weeks. They have quite the selection of shades and other furnishings, however, I decided to purchase mine from OKA. It's a lovely dark black/brown with cream, pale green and orange/yellow highlights on raw silk. If you decide to bring one over, be aware that they set up their lamps differently than we do. 15 later I had something that would support my new shade.

Here, in the form of basic, metal fire escapes. A feature is made of these distinctive symbols of New York. They adorn every style of the city’s architecture: 1930’s office blocks, Georgian buildings, warehouses and seemingly tiny cottages in the middle of the city. Colours with names like. Complete with a bit of gra...

Article written on Thursday, May 14th, 2015. The curve of the handrail attracted me to take the photograph in the first place. What is it doing down at the bottom of a semi-submerged flight of steps in West London? A boring old handrail, most of the time underwater, is a thing of beauty. Perhaps that is going a little too far but the curve doesn’t have a function…there is no answer, it’s just how they did things back then. And we are all the luckier for it. Marie Antoinette’s Sitting Room. Marie Antoinette’s Sitting Room. Article written on Saturday, February 7th, 2015. Any settler on foreign shores, brings with them knowledge from their homeland. In this case the early European settlers in America brought their 17. Century building practices, for example timber panelling. Internal timber cladding keeps the houses warm and dry but in John Hewlett’s house (1740-60), re-instated here at The Met. in New York, it looks pretty good too. Wall panelling in 17.
