It is a traditional brick exterior, steel framed with internal covered courtyard, with all floors being heavily cellurised and of course containing secure cells on two floors with a basement car park. Standing on the lower slopes of the Garth, whose summit is a shade over a thousand feet above sea-level, the village is served by a small group of local shops, two public houses, doctors' and veterinary surgeries. The village supports a wide range of local organisations, many of them based in the parish church. Sporting activities, centred at Parc-y-Dwrlyn, include rugby.
