Pepper at the Quilt Studio. Random musings on the world at large through the eyes of a quiltmaker. My motto: Make the quilt and then paint the bedroom! Friday, May 1, 2015. Star to the Fourth Power. The big black-and-white quilt top sat folded on the shelf and was occasionally flapped as a sample in a class. Then I decided to ask my friend Laurie Mayo to. Mary Frankle did a fine job of binding it, half by machine and half by hand. I named the quilt Star to the Fourth Power. It's a good sleeper (I always ...

Pepper at the Quilt Studio. Random musings on the world at large through the eyes of a quiltmaker. My motto: Make the quilt and then paint the bedroom! Thursday, December 4, 2014. The Color of the Year Thing-again! Just what is marsala? Who might look good in marsala? Brown-eyed blonds have a chance and even chestnut-haired girls. My favorite character from The Big Bang Theory (Kaley Cuoco) wore the darkest version of marsala at a 2013 awards show, But plain old brunettes and gasp!

My quilting journal goes public. Monday, July 30, 2012. I know you have all been searching the internet and wondering where I have been this past year! Well, I am back, but not because I have been quilting and have a finished project to update you on, unfortunately. But that is not what this post is about! Is a must read for any on...

My quilting journal goes public. Friday, January 21, 2011. New machine, new quilt, just for my Mom Rani. I have so many quilts to blog about from the past 6 months! But due to the limitations of what pics I have available, I am going to start with the most recent and work backward! So for Christmas this year I got a beautiful new sewing machine! Oh, how technology has changed in the 12-15 years since I got my reliable little White (pictured)! So I wanted my first project to be for her. I found this is an...

My quilting journal goes public. Saturday, July 11, 2009. I did run out of blue fabric, which is what I was edging the squares with, so I improvised and used white. I figure white is always good when it comes to a wedding. So I wanted to post some final shots. I am looking forward to seeing these on the table and ready for use! Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Final pic of centerpeice. I am still working with the border, but essentially this is what they will look like! Thursday, July 2, 2009.

This is a really cute little girl quilt I did for my greatniece a couple years ago:. I got the idea from watching Linda Taylor's quilting show on the web. Pam Clark was a guest and she quilted the background and then added the applique all with the longarm. I fussy cut the flowers and used loops and zigzags to attach the shapes. Stringing Along in December. The other picture here is a detail from a String Star quilt top owned by Lynn and Will Gorges of New Bern NC. The top was hand-pieced by Will's mother Avis sometime in the 1940s or 50s and is still bright as the day it was made. See the perforations going through all four layers? Then trim and head ba...
