Shelby and Ford had their eyes on the 1964 World Manufactures' Champtionship, but the aerodynamically superior Ferrari GTO stood sqarely in the way of the Cobra roadster. Carroll, celebrated designer Pete Brock and legendary driver Ken Milles concocted a solution that involved re-skinning the roadster. Master fabricator Phil Remmington handled the chassis and drivetrain modificatins and the Daytona Coupe was born, resulting in the 1965 FIA World Manufacturers Champion Title Ford Shelby and Ford.
