The development and licensing of the next generation of improved vaccines depends on 1) a more thorough understanding of the immune response to infection and vaccination 2) identification of biomarkers of protective immunity and 3) development of human and pre-clinical models as well as bioassays to predict and evaluate vaccine efficacy. Challenge models will be developed to identify immune signatures that predict protection against B. pertussis.

On December 16, 2016, the Steering Committee of the PERISCOPE project came together in Leiden, NL for the third time to discuss the project’s progress and to align activities throughout the different work packages. All present work package leaders and co-leads from the industry partners summarized their activities to date and discussed overarching topics, including technical details and logistics.
