Reading, writing, and other scribbles. Laquo; Goodreads 2012 Challenge. The Swing of Things ». I cant believe its time for a new year and a new list. Except that its not. I only read one of the books I intended to in 2012. I read a few other books, but just couldnt stick to the original list. And I didnt come close to reading the usual number of books in a typical year. The list for 2012 was largely made up of books that I didnt get to in 2011. This is not a good trend. Can it really help to make us smarter? The roads in an entire state were shut down. Its give...

Reading, writing, and other scribbles. Book Club 2013 Read #1. First book club read of the year for me was Gone Girl. The author, Gillian Flynn, is from Missouri, my home state. She has grown in popularity and the book is also set in Missouri. So I was really looking forward to this one. The big problem is that there are really only two main characters. One character is from Missouri but hardly ever talks about the setting directly. The other character is East Coast born and bred and has no desir...That ...
