Search solutions: YouTube's Buried Treasure
http://stillinthebox.blogspot.com/2008/06/youtubes-buried-treasure.html
Среда, 4 июня 2008 г. Making the most of its riches will take a lot longer than Google expected. It takes longer to bring in a YouTube dollar than it does to bring in a search dollar," concedes Tim Armstrong, Google's top U.S. ad-sales executive. "Can you make [that process] more efficient? We think "yes.'" He adds: "If you talked to me" about this in early '08, "I'd have been more anxious. But we're making nice progress.". Of course, Google and YouTube have a massive human sales force. And, like all...

http://funkeedva.blogspot.com/2008/06/interesting-story-lines-abound-in.html
Вторник, 10 июня 2008 г. Interesting story lines abound in Kentucky Derby. Of all the great sports events, the Kentucky Derby has a unique knack for producing as its winner the entrant with the most compelling storyline. Call it the Genter Factor. You remember 1990, when Unbridled stormed through the stretch to make his 92-year-old owner Frances Genter a Derby winner. Look, Mrs. Genter, there he is. He's a winner! Such heartwarming tales are as much a part of the Derby as mint juleps. To get where he is ...

parents gone mad: About my daughter
http://onetomanykids.blogspot.com/2008/06/my-daughter-10-has-always-had-very.html
Среда, 4 июня 2008 г. My daughter, 10, has always had a very strong will and she can be very argumentative. I am concerned that she is not finding it easy to cope with not getting her way and that with puberty looming this might become more problematic. For many, having "symptoms", or behaviour, similar to ODD, is a transient state during puberty and adolescence. So, should we rush our children to a psychiatric clinic in case there are any other psychiatric diagnoses? I read because I am an architect.

parents gone mad: Do we really need that?
http://onetomanykids.blogspot.com/2008/06/do-we-really-need-that.html
Среда, 4 июня 2008 г. Do we really need that? Public service announcements admonish us to eat dinner with our families, to remember that it takes a real man to be a dad, that losing weight makes you feel better about yourself. The cable channel Nickelodeon sponsors what it calls the Worldwide Day of Play. It's a day where kids are told to turn off the television and go - shockingly - play and use their imaginations. What a concept. So, because we've evidently lost the collective ability to function as th...

Вторник, 10 июня 2008 г. Top stories from spring training. The off-season is over, which means, of course, that you no longer have to read about Bud Selig's failed contraction plan or watch the baseball commissioner being verbally pinned by Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura and an arsenal of other politicians. Here's a sampling of the top Grapefruit League and Cactus League stories for 2002. Then they lost Paul O'Neill and Scott Brosius to retirement and Tino Martinez to free agency. Get better, of course.

Search solutions: Inside the Googleplex

Среда, 4 июня 2008 г. And other rivals have gone through such crises and been humbled. Google has not. Fifty cents at a time. Google's success still comes from one main source: the small text ads placed next to its search results and on other web pages. The advertisers pay only when consumers click on those ads. "All that money comes 50 cents at a time," says Hal Varian, Google's chief economist. For this success to continue, several things need to happen. And Microsoft). It charged more for each cli...
