We are at Shriners for Simon's surgery and he is currently in surgery and we are waiting. He seemed to do really well and did not seem nervous before surgery. I guess it's the age and a blessing! He chose a green spica cast - so that will be fun. We have a wonderful room and the staff at Shriner's is exceptional as usual. I think I even want to work here myself! March 24, 2010 at 4:25 PM.

We are leaving in the morning at 4:30am.RAH! That was lots of car time. As for Dalton, he's done better this week as far as his pain level at night but it's so hard to know if it's just one of those times that he's not having as much pain or if it's the L O R I T A B or some of both. Friday, May 29, 2009. We have improved ROM! Can I get a WOOOT? Ok, so on 5/11 his measurements were as follows:. Flexion 90 (normal is 120). Abduction 15 (normal is 50-60). External rotation 25 (normal is 70-90). Internal rotation 10 (normal is 40). The internal is still pretty tight but at least we have some improvement! Now let's just hope that the xrays on 7/6 show that the hip is going back towards the socket and not out anymore! If he has pain then he wets the bed.no pain=waking up dry! Dalton spent...

Friday, September 25, 2009. We had PT yesterday and Mrs. Stacy measured Dalton's ROM and he is within NORMAL RANGES on all of his ROM numbers! Thanks so much for all the prayers! We appreciate them so much! October 7, 2009 at 4:53 PM. Go glad to hear you had an swesome update! My son is 5 1/2 and was diagnosed with Perthes back in May 2009. His ROM is severely dampered and PT has not helped. Surgery was suggested just yesterday and I came across your blog in my frantic internet searches. Sir limps a lot.

We had spent the better part of the month of December with him limping and complaining of leg pain on and off. He woke up with the croup two days after Christmas and the nurse noticed his limp. Thursday, February 19, 2009. LolPun intended. But at least I can laugh about it right? We've not had any real incidents since the last update.but he's been pretty stiff for about a week and has limped a lot and just complained that it hurts. We went bowling yesterday.he really enjoyed that. Sorry for not updating in so long, just nothing much to update about really. Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Again, a huge gap in time, but Caitlin is now 20 years old and studying at university. She returned home in July to see her specialist and he supported her decision and also that of the other specialist, actually recommending she stick with this other one, because his specialty is arthroscopic procedures on the hips. Really pleased this surgery is as minimally invasive as it is and could potentially make a world of difference for her - no guarantees as usual, but worth trying.
