cotton-headed-ninny-muggins: May 2011

Friday, May 20, 2011. Am I really doing the peace sign with a grown woman who is significantly shorter than me? Why yes. In order to survive with my Japanese companions during my mission, I tried to assimilate into the Japanese culture as much as possible. I ate rice and fermented soybeans for breakfast. And I liked it. I covered my mouth when laughing and chewing food. I fastidiously sorted the trash. When I saw a white person I thought, "What are they doing here? That's my excuse for posting this one m...

Sunday, January 22, 2012. A Boy and His Tiger. Will and "tiger" are starting to remind me of Calvin and Hobbes. Sunday, January 8, 2012. From Thanksgiving to New Years there's a whole lot of activity, family time, money spent, and food eaten. 2 murder mystery parties. 2 "special" musical numbers. 3 Christmas light displays. Lots of board games. Mustache wearing, footie pajama-ed, guitar player. Sorry Hailey, I had to include this picture. It was sunny and warm for my birthday again! Elliot wouldn't let m...

cotton-headed-ninny-muggins: June 2011

Saturday, June 18, 2011. The kids are growing and changing so fast! Elliot is sitting up on his own with the occasional topple. Will's photography skills are slowly but surely improving. Elliot's head is cut off, but at least he's in the center. Will is also getting so good at reading! This stamp book says, "You need to watch TV and do fishie, and no clipping nails." In truth, he can recognize his name and some letters, but that's about it. Elliot started eating food! Thursday, June 2, 2011. This morning...

Sunday, September 16, 2012. Summer is just about over for everyone, and that will finally include us too. Britton starts work next Monday, and our summer traveling days will be over. We had a great time this summer going to many places near and far. Unfortunately the Fourth of July fell on a Wednesday this year. What do you do with that? So we attended the annual Sommercorn family reunion the weekend before the holiday. This year we traveled to McCall, Idaho for some fresh mountain air. I have to...We sp...

Monday, July 18, 2011. Sommercorn family reunion 2011 was in Lincoln City, OR this year. We all drove in from north, east, and south to share some fun memories and a large beach house. The weather just started warming up as we arrived. Although it barely warmed up above 70 degrees, it was sunny the whole time so we could enjoy some outdoor activities. We did a quick hike together to a big waterfall. The hike was just a way to burn a few calories before we headed to. the Tillamook Cheese Factory! We spent...

cotton-headed-ninny-muggins: February 2012
http://brinee-olson.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 10, 2012. This one is developing quite the attitude. I don't really mean attitude in a bad way. He is 14 months, and I guess that's about the time kids start showing a lot more personality and determination to follow their own agenda. He likes to do things to make us laugh like hiding in the curtains, sticking his tongue out, and shouting gibberish. Britton had a golden birthday turning 29 on the 29th! One of the cards said, "Knock knock. Who's there? 30" We are still in denial. We could...

http://papaolson.blogspot.com/2008/06/i-am-neat-freak-not.html
The ramblings of an aging baby boomer. Tuesday, June 10, 2008. I Am A Neat-Freak (Not). I have known individuals who cannot leave their office at the end of the day without making sure that everything is filed away and the top of their desk is "clean as a whistle" (by the way, just how clean. Whistles with all that saliva and icky mouth germs on them? I digress. Everyone understands this saying). Anyway, I am not. One of those people. They qualify for son of perdition-hood. My purgatorial "calling and el...

The ramblings of an aging baby boomer. Monday, March 10, 2008. Hi, My Name is.Buddy! One of the more disconcerting aspects of being an aging Boomer is how the RAM portion of the brain's memory can crash so quickly. Case in point. Have you ever been in social situations where you meet someone, hear their name, and. Now, if it is a guy, there is an. Solution.you call them " Buddy. NOTE: My much, much younger counterparts can insert "Dude".but then, they don't have memory issues do they? Our table has ten p...

The ramblings of an aging baby boomer. Monday, October 20, 2008. Just When Did I Become. June 25, 1980.that's when. That was date I asked my first "dumb" question. And it was directed to a "youngster" who was 5 years younger than me. Youngster: (In response to my question) "They are a band! Emphasis on the Duh- uhhhh. And with an obligatory rolling of the eyes. Yeah okay, yeah, I think I have heard of them.". Youngster: "Yeah, they are totally tubular! Youngster: "They are gnarly fer shur.

Papa Olson's Blog: Give Me My Dang Discount!
http://papaolson.blogspot.com/2008/08/give-me-my-dang-discount.html
The ramblings of an aging baby boomer. Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Give Me My Dang Discount! There is a trendy new axiom regarding age that declares. Is the new 40. Is the new 30. With this great logic is 20 the new 10, and is 10 the new? Although it may explain our ten-year-old AJ's. However, I say it is propaganda. From individuals who obviously. A lot of this new math nonsense is being perpetuated in Kaiser Permanente. Don't worry Mr. Olson, that 275/140 BP. Reading is the NEW. 117/70.or at least, I.
