VetAnswers — The Florida Pet Blog by Dr. Michael Rumore

The Florida Pet Blog by Dr. Michael Rumore. Winter is Coming, but in the Game of Fleas, It Does Not Matter. March 7, 2013. The Fleas that Ate Florida- Coming to Theater Soon! Fleas are black insects slightly bigger than a sesame seed, which can’t fly, but can run and jump very quickly. They bite and suck blood, and. A single female can lay 2000 eggs over the few weeks she is alive. The flea eggs hatch into small worms called larvae, which then form cocoons, called pupae, and mature into adult fleas.

The Ultimate Embarrassment: Humping

http://vetanswers.petanswers.com/2013/01/28/the-ultimate-embarrassment-humping

The Florida Pet Blog by Dr. Michael Rumore. The Ultimate Embarrassment: Humping. January 28, 2013. Dogs are definitely not people, and live by a different set of social norms than we two-leggers do. Any pet owner can tell you, nothing is quite as embarrassing as when a pet starts humping in front of company. Sometimes they hump another dog or cat, sometimes an object, and sometimes even a person. No matter what the target is, it is always embarrassing. What’s love got to do with it? Rarely, a spayed or n...

Excessive movement, as well as the Collie’s inherently obsessive behavior, has led to the incision site opening up. We had to add some strength holding sutures, which are placed further out from the incision to help hold it together. We augmented these stitches with small pieces of tubing to help keep them in place. Looking for the PetAnswers podcast? Return to top of page. X000B7; Log in.

http://vetanswers.blogspot.com/2012/09/not-black-and-white-movie-what-our-pets.html

Diving a little deeper into the fascinating world of our pets. Saturday, September 15, 2012. Not a Black and White Movie: What Our Pets See. Whenever movies portray the perspective of a dog or cat, they always use camera at knee level, looking up in black and white. In real life, a pet’s perspective is much different. These differences can be enlightening, and can give us a little glimpse into our four legged friends’ world. Dani and I examine a kitty. Gabby has a yellow tapetum. Michael Rumore, DVM.
