PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER

PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER. Ramblings of a Luthier. Sunday, 18 March 2012. A bit of a refit. Recently my friend Bertrand helped me insulate my one remaining breeze block wall, in exchange for a little French polishing. It was easy enough to keep the place warm before, but it wasn't cheap! I've been using the new space for a while now, although there are still little things to finish, and it feels good! The dog couldn't give a flying badger about workbenches, but fully endorses his new alcove. Here is a set ...

PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER: June 2011

http://petebeerguitars.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER. Ramblings of a Luthier. Monday, 6 June 2011. Here are the sides being attached to a guitar currently in progress. Each side has the linings in place and notched to clear the transverse bars prior to this operation. Wedges secure the sides into the neck. I glue these with hide glue although I suspect they would be fine without any. The sides are clamped to the soundboard with "go-bars". These bend when compressed between to roof of the go-bar deck. PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER: February 2011

PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER. Ramblings of a Luthier. Tuesday, 8 February 2011. Seven string on its way. I'm about to start the French Polishing on my latest instrument, a seven string. Here are a couple of pictures from the last stages of woodworking. Today I planed the fingerboard, installed and levelled the frets, and carved the neck. I know a lot of people use a sanding block to level the fingerboard but I've really never seen the point. It takes ages,. In case you were wondering, the plane is a Clifton n...

http://petebeerguitars.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

PETE BEER, GUITAR MAKER. Ramblings of a Luthier. Monday, 14 March 2011. Less verbose and more pictorial today. Here are a few pictures I took of the recently completed seven string guitar before it was collected last Thursday. Cocobolo back and sides, spruce top. The tuners are Rodgers, if you were wondering. I hope the new owner is having fun getting to grips with it! Links to this post. Tuesday, 8 March 2011. Seven string finished, new guitar underway. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
