About this blog . Times for the Times (old single-handed version). No longer updated - for current version, use first link in the list on the right. Oct 24th, 2006 at 12:40 PM. I'm pondering changing this blog to a "community", with a team of about 3 to 6 people to share the task of writing up comments about the day's puzzle. So far I have one volunteer to share this task on a regular basis. If I can find a couple more, I'll run with this new idea. 4 comments Leave a comment. Oct 26th, 2006 09:35 am (UTC).

cryptically preoccupied - ilan caron
http://ilanc.livejournal.com/21129.html
I do recognize that the other side's getting the worse of it. And I don't envy them. Anyway, today's Friday Telegraph #25056. Has a couple of things to keep my mind unpreoccupied:. 20A: "Come into American HQ avoiding the front entrance" (5) must be ENTER given the crossing letters, but I can't see the wordplay? July 31st, 2006 03:10 pm (UTC). Wordplay is (c)ENTER - the normal spelling for Telegraph readers being 'centre', of course. "Deletion" wordplay like this can be a devil to spot.
cryptic quarterfinal - ilan caron

Gary Lineker's well-known epigram about football again proved all too true yesterday. "Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win" - there was an inevitability about it as soon as they equalized late in the game. Where was Messi? Which doesn't bring me to the point of this item: today's Telegraph #25033. 13A: "Ordinary person who is not politically correct" (8) must be EVERYMAN. Is this a dig at the Observer's cryptic? How's that for PC?

My A.D.D. moments
My ADD. moments. The Power of Words. There is a great difference between disagreeing with someone on principles. And doing something like this. This is hate. The Westboro Baptists are hateful and bigots. The New Black Panthers and the Klu Klux Klan are hateful and racists. We need to recognize the power of words, and not use them as a cheap substitute for proper discussion. We have made these words nearly meaningless by our overuse of them, and that is a shame.
