The columns support a composite deck made from steel and pre-cast concrete with an in-situ concrete structural topping. Structural engineering design is by Jane Wernick Associates. Design judgements were guided throughout by a review of hydrological and ecological conditions and close consultation with the RSPB, Natural England, and the Environment Agency. This informed the final choice of path route, an integrated solution which takes advantage of opportunities for habitat creation and water management across this part of Rainham marsh. The Trackway is a major new bridge walkway linking Rainham village to the Thames-side marshes. This new link is a key part of the wider public access works across the Inner Thames Marshes at Rainham. Landroom's conservation and access work on the marshes was awarded a special mention in the European Prize for Urban Public Space [2014]. Further detail on the Trackway can be found here .
