Peter Coast to Coast. Friday, June 3, 2011. Leaving Ely I encounter some whopping headwinds and beautiful scenery. Hard work pays off and today's ride offers a pitstop, Major's Junction. Major's Junction has a funky little shack. I think the B-52's would highly approve. Folks autograph dollar bills and tack em to the ceiling. I forgot to leave mine. There's a smile that says," I just had beer and a fried chicken sandwich! The sun is out! The first summit isn't too bad, but the descent is freezing!

Peter Coast to Coast. Saturday, May 14, 2011. Well, I packed a lot of stuff and then reconsidered and rethought and figured out how some items could serve double duty and removed items accordingly. Award for heaviest item goes to. The tent! Weighing in at 4lbs 4oz it proves to be the most loathsome (and under-used? Item in the pack! Second place goes to sleeping bag pillow (3 lbs ), third to the bike cable/lock(1 lb 1oz). Water of course will be the heaviest load, especially while in the desert.

Peter Coast to Coast. Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Tons of stars last night! Just as I drift off, I hear a big bang at the restaurant. Noise goes on all night. The proprietors caught a raccoon in a trap. I don't know why they bother catching them, there are hundreds more that could visit tomorrow. I grab breakfast at the restaurant around the corner and I meet Quinn. He's from Atlanta and he's riding the same route as me. We end up leap-frogging each other all the way to Kirkwood. Back on the road. Smells like...

Peter Coast to Coast. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. I am eager to beat the wind this morning and chomp away at the first climb as quickly as I can. The mornings are really quiet until about 10 and then the RVs and motorcycle troops roll by. This little flower just happened to catch my eye- one of the few shots I've taken while not straddling the bike.
