Friday, June 22, 2012. Here's a little glimpse of the kindergarten concert in videos, featuring two cute Smith boys and the rest of their wonderful classes. I think Mr. T may have been trying to compensate for being put in the back row by doing extra large and extra expressive motions! The More We Get Together". I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee". Please note how Mr. T point at ME "Mommy" every time he sings the word in the song in the first verse! A Peanut Sat On A Railroad Track". HAPPY FATHER'S DAY t...

Wednesday, January 16, 2013. While we certainly should. Have begun our study of American history with, at the very least, George Washington, our kids continue to be fascinated with the H.L. Hunley and the Civil War. So, since they know plenty about George Washington and the Revolutionary War thanks to Your Story Hour cds. We haven't even talked about the Hunley yet! I think we did spend one afternoon reading the following book (quite possibly the last book we had yet. The event that sparked a unit: the H...

Sunday, December 30, 2012. The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." Psalm 19.1. Our 2nd unit of the year focused on several aspects of astronomy. Here are some pictures, videos and notes capturing some of what we spent our time doing. The following is a video I got from NASA. While I don't agree with all their origin beliefs, the filming was fascinating and we loved seeing the sun in new ways. Mr T's facts about stars. His pictures of the stars shining brightly...

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Even though it wasn't a birthday party, we still decided to make a "mud" cake and put some monster truck scenes, made by each boy. Mr T's monster truck scene. When the party kids arrived, they each got to choose and color their own monster truck. Then they cut it out and glued it on the long banner, which Mr. T had hanging in his room for months afterward. And then came the big event: MONSTER TRUCK RIDES. You can tell there is a little bit of excitement going on here! So he ...

Friday, July 22, 2011. Several weeks ago a friend from church invited us out to the new lodge down the Narrows where he works. It is beautiful Majestic Eagle Lodge. It's my new favorite place to recommend to anyone traveling to Petersburg! The wonderful owner/chef and her able assistants treated us to a delicious meal and a fun tour of their well-built and well-organized cabins, lodge and property. Come for a visit! Here are the kids following James, our kind host, down to the boat on the beach. Fans sta...

Tuesday, October 18, 2011. One of the special things we did while in Fresno this summer was to visit their fantastic zoo! We went with some of our new Linkcare friends, the Arteagas and had a great time with them. O Boy and Mr. T with the Wells Fargo dog. Here, some Wells Fargo ladies were sharing facts about llamas and allowing the kids to pet one. To see a Galapagos turtle from Ecuador. Where the Galapagos islands really are! Riding the (pretend) Komodo. Picture time in the Wells Fargo carriage. Anothe...

Living as God's people–Accomplishing God's purpose. Our Vision and Values. While we are an independent church, we recognize how important it is to have relationships, encouragement, and accountability from other churches. From the beginning of Creekside we’ve had partnerships that have provided us these things. Below are some of the other churches we consider as sister churches:. The Crossway Chapel Network. This is accomplished through:. Sharing resources, experience, and gifted individuals. Sunday Serv...

Monday, February 28, 2011. Homeschool art class: junk bugs. Last week in our weekly homeschool get-together we pooled all our recycled materials, plugged in the glue guns and set to work making bugs! They came up with some pretty amazing creations! L-R Mr. T's butterfly (which is the first junk sculpture he's actually participated in making), O Boy's bumblebee, Valon's bumblebee, Little Sweetie's butterfly (made by Andrea). Little Sweetie turns 2! Wonder what we'll come up with for next year? Thankfully,...

Saturday, December 24, 2011. Fish hatchery field trip. There aren't a lot of places to go on field trips on our island, but the kindergartners do get to visit our local fish hatchery to learn about salmon life cycles each year. Here are some photos of their trip. Touching the salmon eggs. Here is their guide cutting open a salmon so they could see the eggs spilling out. Pretty exciting stuff for kindergartners! Touching and exploring everything. He even had a little colonial pony tail! Even though she wa...
