Dinorwig slate quarry, Llanberis, is such a magical place. Iain and I are obsessed with the place at the moment. Here are a couple of my latest photographs. One of many levels. Rusting in the heather. One up, one down. A very small part of Dinorwig Slate Quarry in the foreground with Snowdon beyond. I'll be adding some shots from the quarry in future posts. In one of the children's books that I illustrated, the US publisher states in my bio - 'Petra Brown lives at the foot of Mount Snowdon'. I guess by American distances I do, but, as the raven flies in Cymru, our house lies eight miles from the foot of Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa. I thought I'd sort through my photos and pick out all the shots where Snowdon features, enough to be recognisable. I was amazed to find only nine, half decent shots! I'm ashamed of myself! Isn't it awesome in its splendid isolation!

As a lover of rust and anything with a wheel or more;. And as I like discovering markers in the landscape (or under the ground) that tell a tale of past activities, the wagon is one of my favourite finds. A wagon always makes for an interesting photo. well, I think it does. I prefer to capture them feral, but I can appreciate a captive wagon. Here are a few examples of captive wagons. Tipping wagon at Llynclys - Cambrian Heritage Railway. Slate wagons at the National Slate Museum - Llanberis.

I really loved illustrating this story. First off I love drawing dogs, secondly, it's a true story, and so heart warming. The cover is a little sad, poor little Rags gets wounded. See-saw, think-thunk, do-did. I'm a little stressed at the moment. I am wearing a very large and heavy hat. it is the hat of. Decorated with feathers of. This hat is rather exciting and impressive, but I'm not sure how long I can wear it before my knees buckle under the weight and I end up looking foolish. I'm working at my usual rate. that of an arthritic sloth. I've never had so many projects on the go and in the wings. At the moment I'm working on a book crammed with ink line drawings. oh, so many!
