Peyto (pea-toe) Lake is 90 km northwest of Banff adjacent to the Icefields Parkway. The lake and Peyto Glacier, Peak (2970 m) and Creek are named for Ebenezer William Bill Peyto (1869-1943), who became one of the best early guides in the Canadian Rockies. Walter Wilcox, who regularly hired Bill, suggested the name Peyto Lake. Highway sign on the Icefields Parkway. Trapper Peak (3014 m) is located near to Peyto Peak.
