The Journey: April 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 24, 2006. Recap of week beginning 04-17-06:. The week started off pretty good but ended up with a very busy weekend and no runs. It was a drop back week (of sorts) so I wasn't real worried about getting anything over 10-12 miles in over the weekend, but with the timing of all of the plans for the weekend I didn't get any in. Mon, 04-17: No run. Tues, 04-18: 3 miles. Wed, 04-19: 5 miles. Thurs, 04-20: 5 miles. Fri, 04-21: 6.1 miles (2 mile warm up, 5K race, 1 mile cool down). I shouted back ...
The Journey: October 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 30, 2006. Another good week on the base building and enjoying running. I was surprised at how well my 10 miler went on Sunday. No stops at all- just smooth, easy run. The temptation was there to add a couple more miles because it was feeling so good but I decided to stop with the planned 10 miles and end on a positive note to take in to my next week of running. Mon- 10-23: No run. Tues- 10-24: 3 miles. Wed- 10-25: 5 miles. Thurs- 10-26: 5 miles. Fri- 10-27: rest day. Sat- 10-28: 5 miles.
The Journey: March 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 27, 2006. Due to an overall lack of training, I decided I was going to make this a training run or slightly faster depending on how I felt. I decided that my overall goal would be 1:45. We left for Knoxville mid day on Friday and it took forever to get there. Should have been about a 4 hour drive, but with traffic and a slow restaurant, it took just over 6 hours. We found our hotel and headed to dinner and a relaxing night. The race started and we immediately started up a hill. I though...
The Journey: February 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 22, 2006. Woke up this morning to get out for a short run and temp was 100.2 so I skipped my run. I think I have to refigure things as far as my program and race. I have lost 2 1/2 weeks of training now. Posted by Alan @ 8:05 AM. Monday, February 20, 2006. Run the Reagan Half Marathon. When I think about race results, I separate them in to 2 groups- how was I mentally and how was I physically. Under the finish line at 1:43:35. 1- 2731 (6.38 pace). Posted by Alan @ 8:13 AM. Well, it's ...
The Journey: May 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Recap for week of 05-22-06:. Mon- Travel day back from Green Bay. Tues- Rest day. Can't believe that my legs feel this good. Wed- 3 mile run at lunch. M legs start out a little tight but loosen nicely. They are getting a little tired by the end of the 3 miles. Sat- Wanted to run but at the lake for the long weekend with the family and never got around to it. Posted by Alan @ 1:02 PM. Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Week of 05-15-06 including race report:. Sun- 26.2 miles. Saturday night we ...
The Journey: January 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2006. I had 6 miles on the docket for Monday, 01-30, but my legs were dead and I decided to take a rest day. Training is going too good right now t0 push it like that in week 3. If I am in week 10 or 12 and my endurance is better, maybe I would have gone ahead and run and just made it a slow 6 miles. I am pleased and feel good about this work out. It definitely gives me hope that I am on the path back. Pm- Upper body weights. Posted by Alan @ 7:57 AM. Monday, January 30, 2006. Friday...
The Journey: August 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 21, 2006. Recap of week beginning 08-14-06. Not a good week for running again but got some more much needed R&R from running. This was a step back week on the Pfitzinger program and I was going to come in with less miles than the program called for but no where near how far under I turned out to be. Mon- I woke up with a pretty bad sore throat- decided I didn't need to run. Wasn't hard to make that decision while laying in bed turning my alarm off and rolling back over to go to sleep.
The Journey: June 2006
http://distance-runner.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 23, 2006. Thurs- am- 6 miles. Pm- upper body weights and core work. Tuesday's run was at lunch when temps. had already hit 90 degrees. I love the heat, and running in the heat, but this was a little tough. I decided to try to acclimate myself back to getting up before work and running. Wed.'s and Thurs's runs were at 4:30 am It wasn't too bad. I actually kind of enjoyed it once I got going- all except for the number of vehicles I encounter that early in the morning. Posted by Alan @ 1:59 PM.

Because a life well lived always finds the right pace. I’ll be home for Christmas…and training. On December 12, 2012. With my recent offseason break, followed by a frustrating foray back into racing at the Gar Williams Half Marathon. Just three weeks ago. So what did I learn from the experience? Well, first of all, that you can lose a. So about that training. I’. Are not for me, though; the times I have tried to push the mileage numbers up to similar levels I have ended up injured. I need something e...
