Please can I talk? About Me and My Blog. My current worries…. August 4, 2015. As I chatted to my mum on the phone last night I found myself getting more and more worked up about not having received my DBS through yet. I feel like it’s spoiling my summer to some degree, it is always at the back of my mind. It was received by DBS on 18 June, which will be a whopping 7 weeks on thursday! When I read that other people got theirs back within a week this really doesn’t help! I want to scream. And so it begins!

Please can I talk? About Me and My Blog. 5% of children cannot read. Not on my shift. September 2, 2015. September 2, 2015. Today I learnt that 5% of children leave primary school unable to read. 5% also leave high school unable to read. Therefore showing that if they slip through the net at primary they will never learn to read 😥. 5% is 5% too many. To some it may sound like a small number. In real terms, 5% equates to 29,000 children. However they have 24 speech sounds, we have 44. Start of Term →.

The other trainee teacher was telling me about an activity in her Year 1 class in which the teacher had drawn pictures of animals for the children to paint. This was all done for a display. Is painting someone elses interpretation of a lion really a worthwhile exercise? What kind of teaching is that? Where do the training sessions fit in?
