Shannon's Colorspot: February 2011

My journey of learning how to see rightly. A place for thoughts on theology through the arts; and the arts through theology. Tuesday, February 22, 2011. I will bring back your captives before your very eyes. Needless to say, this season of pregnancy has not been my favorite season of life thus far. Much of the reason has been extreme busyness trying to get classwork done before Eli arrives plus working full time, coupled with a very snowy and cold winter here in Boston. My cup was filling up quite quickly.

Headed Home: A little peek
http://bravescaredwarrior.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-little-peek.html
View of Lake Bunyonyi from Birdnest Hotel. Friday, November 15, 2013. We have heard there was a Ugandan wide national meeting, as well as an East African meeting last spring. I have not been able to get details, but then this little peek came. While we were there, there was a prayer and burden to go and live amongst the people in a neighboring town where there are Batwa and refugees from the Congo who need hope and encouragement as only Jesus can offer. Dear Travis, dear Kevin,. They had a good time with...

Headed Home: April 2011

View of Lake Bunyonyi from Birdnest Hotel. Sunday, April 24, 2011. On fear and faith. I wanted to write this in process because I am in the middle of walking through this struggle and I want to remember how God is with me in this. Moving to Uganda has brought many surprises—good and bad. One of the biggest surprises for me personally has been the surfacing of fear. That has really caught me off guard and I am wrestling with it! 8216;Supposing a tree fell down, Pooh, when we were underneath it? So, anothe...

I saw, I liked, I snapped: March 2010
http://isawisnapped.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
I saw, I liked, I snapped. Inspired by my niece and sister, I've decided to take on the playful challenge of snapping one photo a day—for an entire year! Snapping my first photo on February 20, I'm off and running with the 365 Project. If I see it and I like it.I'll snap it! Wednesday, March 31, 2010. I got flowers on a cloudy day. I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.". Ran down to Elizabeth Park today after work and sloshed through the wet grass to snap a few. I saw, I liked, I snapped.

We Were Like Dreamers: March 2011
http://wewerelikedreamers.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
March 30, 2011. Crack me open, for too long. I've been an unbroken yolk. In a shell, within a nest,. What do you want from me? How can I love? I was made from mud. Sometimes my glowing sparks cut like glass. Sometimes I am the glass. Mother. I don't feel fullness. Right now I only feel my own lack of everything. What is this pretty stick, so crushable? It's green and thinks it knows what new life is. But it hasn't died yet, so how can it know? March 23, 2011. March 15, 2011. Time is standing still for you.

We Were Like Dreamers: December 2010
http://wewerelikedreamers.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
December 19, 2010. So, Hanukkah is long since over, and there's nothin' coming up in the immediate future that those of us not so inclined to celebrate the mainstream holidays can get fired up about. but memories of the tasty latkes consumed within the last few weeks, the warmth of the Hanukkah candles and dozens of poorly played Dreidel games leaving me with scant gelt can linger on. So much tastiness we got from them Germans, with the exception of some of the less edible Ashkenazic foods, like the drea...

February 26, 2011. I want Poetry and I want it Now. I thought I had it all figured out. I thought I had it right, now. Even if my direction was a spiral into the very heart of the earth. But time does rob and give back to me. All I never thought I'd see. I'm stumbling, reminded of your heavy worth. And you must be part of my Arm. Pulling me gently with cords to harder ways. When I don't want to hear it. When all I seek is dissipation, not participation. But I am forced to anyway. February 1, 2011. But no...
