P. Hawkwood's Journal

Monday, June 4th, 2012. These are the Jokes. I'm writing this down mostly so I'll remember it in years to come. My Battalion Chief, (who was a Navy Corpsman in the 1st Marine Div.) tells lots of stories about his dad, whom I've never met, but would like to. He was career military and retired from the Army an E9 (highest pay grade non-commissioned officer). Apparently this is a joke his dad tells, and it made me laugh/groan more than anything I've heard recently. How do you catch a polar bear? Oh and my l...

It didn't rain that hard: phawkwood

http://phawkwood.livejournal.com/542276.html

It didn't rain that hard. I could spare ten minutes out of my morning to watch this insanely cute display. And I did. When the first car from my replacement crew arrived they retreated into the tree line, but not very far, hanging around near the edge for at least another five minutes. They're gone now. I'm betting they live in the trees there somewhere, which means we'll probably see them again. Or they could be from one of the houses south of the station. Post a new comment. http://phawkwood.livejournal.com/539108.html

It has been a S-L-O-W day. Shift decided to have a psudo-Thanksgiving dinner, lasagna, up at HQ. We all got together, it was a fun time. Caught a mutual aid fire next door after that. it was already out when we got there but we got to open up a copule walls, always fun. And just back from another one, this one less fun. Burning smells but no fire. 3rd time the charm? Post a new comment. Anonymous comments are disabled in this journal. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post.

but but... I like shopping Amazon: phawkwood

http://phawkwood.livejournal.com/539171.html

But but. I like shopping Amazon. I really like Amazon, mostly for the ease with which you can find what you're after, and the verity of stuff they have. Yes the low prices are nice too, but that's not my primary motivator for shopping there. This article in the Boston Review. Really it seems that Amazon is engaging in some of the same predatory practices. Sacrificing the good of the industry in the name of low prices. How much profit is really enough? Post a new comment. The Cacophony of Being. Powered by LiveJournal.com. Nov 23rd, 2010. It's very cute. Now that it's getting colder outside, the mice/voles are coming inside. The cat has spent the last two days camping in the kitchen waiting for them to make a mistake. We'll see who wins the kitty vs mouse war this year. Last year kitty won. One morning she left us a vole present next to the dining table. Now for the Thanksgiving shopping. Or more to the point, poor. We'll have lots of left overs. Posted at 11:13 am.
