Racer progress update (Code autocompletion for Rust)

http://phildawes.net/blog/2014/05/10/racer

Racer progress update (Code autocompletion for Rust). May 10, 2014. I've recently become a fan of the Rust Language. I think memory safety without garbage collection is an important innovation in the field and I'm excited by the prospect of using a safer alternative to C for fast low level code in my job. It works like this:. User presses tab or whatever to complete some code. Editor writes out a temporary copy of the edited text and invokes Racer on it. The only editor support bundled with Racer at the ...

Racer Progress Update 4

http://phildawes.net/blog/2015/02/02/racer4

Racer Progress Update 4. Feb 2, 2015. Time for another Racer. Most of the work on racer in the last few months has been about keeping up with the flood of changes to the rust language and internal apis. Aside from that there were a couple of improvements:. Racer got some support for generics. Connect() returns IoResult TcpStream ). It got some support for destructuring. Racer got better at handling half-finished code, dangling scopes and match statements. It also got a bit better at working on windows.

Another Racer progress update

http://phildawes.net/blog/2014/08/21/racer-update3

Another Racer progress update. Aug 21, 2014. Has come on a bit since my last post. Here's a quick rundown of the main changes:. Method resolution got better. Racer now outputs some contextual info which gets included in matches - see the image above. NB unfortunately there's a bug in my emacs bindings somewhere in the interaction with company mode which means that the extra stuff only crops up after you move the cursor. I'm not really sure why this happens, I'll try and fix it at some point.). I original...

Racer progress update (+ some vim support!)

http://phildawes.net/blog/2014/06/24/racer-update

Racer progress update ( some vim support! Jun 24, 2014. It's been a few weeks since I posted about Racer. My rust code-autocompletion project, so here's another update. First off, thanks to Michael Gehring who has been regularly submitting patches to bring Racer up to date with breaking Rust master changes. I have a very limited amount of time to work on Racer so I really appreciate this, thanks Michael. The main news is that I've cobbled together a Racer vim plugin. In the screenshot the completion is b...

Inside the Ivy Bridge and Haswell BTB. After last time’s. Analysis of the Arrendale BTB, I thought I should take a look at more contemporary CPUs. At work I have access to Haswell and Ivy Bridge machines. Before I got too far into interpretation, I spent a while making it as easy as possible to remotely run tests, and graph. The code. Has improved a little in this regard. For completeness, this article was written with the code at SHA hash ab8cbd1d. Posted at 03:00:00 GMT on 23. However, if only a subset...

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don’t. It’s been a while…. So what have I been doing? Dear Microsoft, please break things to give us nice new things. We will moan but ultimately we will understand. Give us one runtime, one way to display a button, one look and feel throughout your platforms and runtimes. I don’t want to buy a 3rd party button control to make a button that looks like your one, I want YOUR ONE. I am one .NET developer, I have often ...

The Age of Wonder. Return of the Casual Gamer. October 29, 2006 in Gizmos. I gave up playing computer games once it became obvious that I couldn’t get anywhere without reading the instruction manual and then dedicating hour upon hour learning strategy and shortcuts (oh and having three kids didn’t help). However with the upcoming Wii from Nintendo that just may change, an article. In this weeks Economist states. Looks like I’ve got a present on my xmas list (for the kids of course 🙂 ).

Rust — Matt Godbolt’s blog

http://www.godbolt.org/Rust

Traits and trait objects. As I spend more time working with Rust. I find myself hitting more edge cases, and ultimately into learning more about how Rust is implemented. This weekend I was working on path-tracer. Refactoring it to make shapes generic instead of always spheres, and adding explicit light sampling. While doing so I hit some unusual error messages, of the form:. The trait `renderable: Renderable` is not implemented for the type `renderable: Renderable`. Posted at 14:30:00 BST on 8. Last time...

Dec 29, 2015. Racer progress has been a bit slow of late, mainly because the implementation is at a crossroads and I wasn’t sure how things would pan out with the IDE tools RFC. Racer 1.1.0. Was released yesterday, so I thought it was time for an update. A bunch of Racer-related things happened in the last few months:. Nick Cameron authored an rfc. Exploring some ideas about adding Rust support for IDEs. I wrote some code. To explore using Rustc for type inference and completions. The Racer emacs plugin.
