Pacific Crest Trail, California, Section N. In August 2007, I walked from Highway 36 to Highway 44 as a solo hike. In May 2011, I walked several day hikes covering all of the northern part of the section except for the stretch between the Highway 44 trailhead parking area and the Hat Creek Rim Fire Lookout site. I walked that stretch in May, 2012. Photos are arranged from south to north. North Fork Feather River. North of Hat Creek Rim Fire Lookout site.

Pacific Crest Trail, California, Section J. I hiked most of this 76 mile section from South to North (from Sonora Pass to Echo Summit on Highway 50) in 5 days along with my nephew, Steve. (I hiked the remainder to Echo Lake Resort by myself on another occasion.) The most noteworthy occurrence was my first encounter with hail on the last afternoon. There was enough to leave the ground covered for several hours. Above Sonora Pass Looking North. Lake Tahoe in the Distance.
