Granted her freedom in 1778 and married John Peters. Died in 1748 due to John's failure to provide for the family. First Published Poem: "An Elegiac Poem on the Death of the Celebrated Divine. . . George Whitefield". First Published Book: Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral. One of few women AND slaves to be literate.
