Hmmm...: The Ruckus
http://h-cubed.blogspot.com/2010/04/ruckus.html
Thursday, April 1, 2010. On top of a hill, on the island of Zort,. Lived a bird called the Ruckus. Whose favorite sport was making loud noises. It gave him a thrill to be known. As the loudest-mouthed bird on the hill. Then one day he said, "I can be louder still! My voice is terrific - it ought to be heard. On many more islands than this," said the bird. So he made his voice stronger,. Till one day he found. That he learned how to make a tremendous big sound. That shook every island for 50 miles round.

Pensées: March 2005

Random thoughts and essays on life, religion, science, ethics, and social issues. Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it." - Blaise Pascal. March 26, 2005. I don't think so! Not if I'm reading my cultural cues properly anyways. So how could this number be so high? But the difference between the two is a matter of interpretive opportunity. The resurrection has been a rather malleable concept in modern times. We classical Chri...

Hmmm...: January 2009
http://h-cubed.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2009. Jeff and I started an experiment this week. We found a website www.hundredpushups.com. In 5 sets- the ones he was supposed to do for Friday- but still, it's significantly more than he could do even on Monday.). We're pretty excited, even if we don't get to the goal of 100 in a row (I'm betting Jeff will) it's still cool to be able to do a lot of pushups, and the program is a good motivator. I'll post an update when we take our progress tests next weekend :D. 160;I love 'em!

Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Uh, is that really professional? I work in a technical field, and am signed up for a few newsgroups dealing with a particular piece of software I use often. All the topics and responses get sent to my email inbox. Most of the user names are some sort of variant of the user's real name (initials, last names, etc) but someone signed up with the moniker of spicykiss4u. And he/she likes to post in the newsgroup. A lot. Thanks and all the best,. Posted by Kelly @ 2:33 PM Link. Wow, I'm ...

Hot Fudge Sunday: emergent delusion
http://hotfudgesunday.blogspot.com/2005/05/emergent-delusion.html
Wednesday, May 11, 2005. I just read what seems to me like a good analysis of McLaren's A Generous Orthodoxy. Characterizing it as "a religion of perpetual doubt" and tying it in with Francis Schaeffer's teaching on what he termed "the line of despair." I haven't read A Generous Orthodoxy. But I am certainly on the same page as the author of this critique in regard to the nature of truth and such, so my guess is my take would be similar to his. Posted by Mike - HotFudgeSunday.com. Blog is out of order.

Hot Fudge Sunday: God weighs in on the topic of justice
http://hotfudgesunday.blogspot.com/2005/05/god-weighs-in-on-topic-of-justice.html
Tuesday, May 03, 2005. God weighs in on the topic of justice. In the book of Isaiah, God says, "Let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me.". This idea isn't one that would strike most Christians as unusual. But it might surprise them what God wants them to understand about Himself:. The part about kindness and righteousness rings familiar. But isn't it interesting that sandwiched in between them is the idea that God exercises justice? I once visited a Reformed church where the...
