a guide to living with your philosopher
philosiology: July 2011
http://philosiology.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
A guide to living with your philosopher. Thursday, 14 July 2011. Ok, so I’m really sorry I haven’t been able to post lately. What have I been up to, you ask? I’ve been GRE-ing, freshmen-advising, and researching]. You know how I did an entry once on philosophers and their guilt? It’s wearing off on me! I really feel so guilty every day that I do not post. To assuage said guilt, I created this diagram a while ago after watching the movie Pi. It all goes back to pi (as in 3.14 . . .). If you are a famous a...
philosiology: Three Philosophers: How to Address Break-Taking
http://philosiology.blogspot.com/2012/02/three-philosophers-how-to-address-break.html
A guide to living with your philosopher. Saturday, 25 February 2012. Three Philosophers: How to Address Break-Taking. One of the most common questions (sometimes asked jokingly and sometimes seriously) non-philosophers ask of me is how to get philosophers out of their books and articles and into the outside world sometimes. I’ve danced around the issue for a while, addressing the issue in bits and pieces (such as my post on habitualness. But today let’s address it outright. Note: The most interesting par...
philosiology: Habitualness: One Philosopher-Quirk of Many
http://philosiology.blogspot.com/2012/01/habitualness-one-philosopher-quirk-of.html
A guide to living with your philosopher. Saturday, 14 January 2012. Habitualness: One Philosopher-Quirk of Many. So I’ve been away for a while. I have lots of excuses, but the one that most of you will be able to relate to rhymes with shmrad shmool shmapplications. Now that I’m not perpetually stressed and sleep-deprived, with GRE words and Petrarchian sonnets dancing around in my head [ like sugar plums in the “Night Before Christmas” poem, just in a creepier way. Note: Some of you philosopher will thin...
philosiology: Q&A Submission Time
http://philosiology.blogspot.com/2011/06/q-submission-time.html
A guide to living with your philosopher. Friday, 17 June 2011. Some of you have sent me email questions about philosophers over the past few months, which I believe I’ve already answered (if I haven’t yet, shame on me! While I hope that this has been helpful for you, you often have really good questions that more people could probably also benefit from. One reader had the great idea of asking me to create an entry specifically for questions, which I will answer. I mean, June 20th. Note: as I write this p...
philosiology: The (Invited) Grad School Visit
http://philosiology.blogspot.com/2012/03/invited-grad-school-visit.html
A guide to living with your philosopher. Saturday, 17 March 2012. The (Invited) Grad School Visit. Since I returned recently from an invited grad school visit (and I’ve organized a few visits for philosophy grad students before), I thought it would be interesting to talk about what you should expect, should your philosopher be in the same situation. So, let’s say that your philosopher was just accepted into a grad program (or several! For you, one of the best parts about this is that if you go along with...

Thursday, September 22, 2011. Six more aprons . . . yes, six. It looks like I've been pretty busy this week, with all these aprons! Though, each apron takes about an hour from cutting to final sewing, so it's not as impressive as it looks. lol. These six aprons (and the first from a few days ago. Were cut on Sunday and ironed/sewn throughout the week. Ivory w/ turquoise, brown, and yellow flowers. This is my favorite! So many cotton fabrics! Have an idea for an apron fabric? Even more aprons coming soon!

Tuesday, April 19, 2011. I have decided that seamstresses should not spend extended periods of time in school. As in, 16 years is waaaaay too much! I am so glad to be finishing college a year early (this July! But I wish I could stop right now. All I want to do is sew, not write papers . . . Where did this spring fever come from? Well, I haven't sewn much over the past few years- not as much as I would have liked. The summer of '09, I spent lots of time sewing, and it was wonderful! Just when I think I c...

Philosiful | An Exploration of Bruno Latour's Philosophy.
An Exploration of Bruno Latour's Philosophy. Quote: Heidegger’s Dasein and Being-in-the-world. 8220;[…] Being-in is not a ‘property’ which Dasein sometimes has and sometimes does not have, and. Dasein, as Being-in-the-world, is as it is. This state of Being does not arise just because some other entity is present-at-hand outside of Dasein and meets up with it. Such an entity can ‘meet up with’ Dasein only in so far as it can, of its own accord, show itself within a. Levi R. Bryant. 8221; I have in mind i...

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. It has occurred to me that there exists a great injustice to the cause of faith in relativist circles. A circular line of reasoning that is, while seemingly logical, astoundingly dishonest:. How can you argue with that? They are, in an exact sense. Will b...
