Aka Phils Road Biking Blog. Hints, tips, pictures and reviews for new road cyclists. Wednesday, 4 February 2015. 1,000,000 Articles Read. Five and a half years ago. Following a re-introduction into cycling as a past time, it seemed a good idea to start a blog. Today that blog achieves a milestone of one million articles read. There I was in 2009, with a Specialized Allez Sport bike, head to toe colour co-ordinated kit and little knowledge other than how to turn the pedals. How hard could it be? However, ...

Aka Phils Road Biking Blog. Hints, tips, pictures and reviews for new road cyclists. Road Bike Buyers Guide. Buying your first road bike, can be daunting. There's a lot of jargon, a huge range of products to choose from and loads of opinion to decipher. Boardman (Halfords only) - English brand, made in Taiwan. Cannondale (Available in many bike shops) - American brand, made in Taiwan. Giant (Available in many bike shops) - Taiwanese brand, made in Taiwan. Within this price bracket, you also buy bikes fro...

http://philsroadbikingblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/q1-2015-mileage.html
Aka Phils Road Biking Blog. Hints, tips, pictures and reviews for new road cyclists. Monday, 25 May 2015. Judging by the last few years, anywhere between 650-900 miles is my expectation for Q1 mileage. With a number of contributing factors including weather, illness and weekends away (of which there were 3), I didn't ride anywhere near as much as I would have liked, exiting the quarter with just 432 miles. Wind conditions have been blowy to say the least, with gusts of up to 45mph on some rides. One ...

Aka Phils Road Biking Blog. Hints, tips, pictures and reviews for new road cyclists. Monday, 4 April 2011. Milani Seigiorni Track Bike. Milani Seigiorni Track Bike. You know when a bike sometimes catches your eye. Browsing on Wiggle earlier I came across this beautiful track bike - the Milani Seigiorni. I hadn't heard of Milani before, so dug about and came up with a little on their history. If you want to be spinning round the velodrome or the streets of London with some panache, think this would do the...

Bob Rides A Bike. My tales from the saddle of my bike, starting with preparing for my first *big* ride - the 2010 RAGBRAI. Now, I'm trying to make cycling a regular part of my life. My RAGBRAI Team LIVESTRONG Fundraising Page. Sunday, May 5, 2013. 100 Miles of Nowhere. I'm stealing an idea from another cycling blogger, albeit a more famous, humorous, and talented one. Several years ago, The Fat Cyclist. Aka Fatty) started a fundraiser called 100 Miles of Nowhere. That is a mighty fine shirt! So, here's t...

http://adriansnowcycling.blogspot.com/2014/02/on-gloucestershire.html
Amateur Cyclist and Occasional Triathlete. Event Reports and Schedule. Sunday, 16 February 2014. A couple of weeks ago, the big move happened. I finally moved all my stuff down to Gloucester and I now live here permanantly. I started a new job last week and so far I think it's going very well. It's a ton of responsiblity but everyone is really nice so I know I will have as much support as I need once I take over the role completely. Anyway - the important stuff! One day. one day. Hoping that some of my L...

Amateur Cyclist and Occasional Triathlete. Event Reports and Schedule. Thursday, 13 March 2014. New Job and Lunchtime Runnings. I've now been in my new job role for a month! I'm really enjoying being busy here in Oxford and getting some great exposure to all kinds of people in my new role. I have really enjoyed it so far and running with other people - especially people who are much quicker and more committed - is great! Think I'm going to try with my phone next time and use RunKeeper and see if I can ge...

http://adriansnowcycling.blogspot.com/2014/01/i-am-leaving-lincoln.html
Amateur Cyclist and Occasional Triathlete. Event Reports and Schedule. Friday, 24 January 2014. I am leaving Lincoln. After over 5 years I am leaving Lincoln to start a new job in the South West. I will be living in Gloucester with my wife and working on the west side of Oxford. I haven't run 5k since Christmas Day and I struggled then. I'd love to say I'm in a good condition to PB (sub 23:19) and I will try but honestly anything under 25min would be great. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). An Experime...
Riderific: November 2011
http://riderific.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
A bloke who rides bikes. Friday, 4 November 2011. Road to recovery - shadow training. Well I did it. Last Sunday at Mistley, I put the crash at Basildon behind me and raced again in the Eastern Cyclocross League. Mistley isn't the easiest of courses, in fact its a bit of a beast, but I had to start somewhere and this was my club's promotion. With a couple of espressos and a belly full of ibuprofen and paracetamol I knew I could get through it. Packed and ready to go. Fin looking a bit Belge.
Riderific: October 2011
http://riderific.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
A bloke who rides bikes. Thursday, 27 October 2011. Following my 'incident' at Basildon a couple of weeks ago I found myself needing a new front wheel. To be more accurate, I destroyed my old wheel - a trusty, Mavic MA3 rim on Deore hub with the manliest of spokes - a heavyweight that was built for 'cross. A clubmate, Tony Sheppard, mentioned to me that Planet X were selling pairs of CX wheels for £99 - this got me looking at the budget options. Despite the massive increase in sales of CX bikes and growt...

Amateur Cyclist & Occasional Triathlete: August 2014
http://adriansnowcycling.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Amateur Cyclist and Occasional Triathlete. Event Reports and Schedule. Tuesday, 19 August 2014. From Sora to Tiagra. After the recent changes made to the Bianchi and the possible new user I thought that I would try and search around for some Tiagra shifters to replace the Sora ones with the thumb bits. I was fortunate enough to strike a deal with a member on the BikeRadar forums who posted me his 9 speed double Tiagra shifters for £32. Bargain. 163;650 for some new bar tape ( Wiggle. Okay, next up was to...

Phil's Reverb 12
Picking up the pieces and moving forward. Thursday, December 27, 2012. Think of three things that daunted you in 2012: how are you going to work towards overcoming them in 2013? When I began 2012, I think the biggest fear I had was death. Probably that is in the background of every person's march through the year, sometimes with good reason, and sometimes simply because of some crazy paranoia. When would I be found? How many hours, or days? And more importantly, how would it work out for my wife? For som...
