In 1984 the Stalnakers and Tjossems together offered William Penn College (William Penn University as of January 2000) an initial $3,000 to begin leadership endowment in the names of Clarence and Lilly, both of whom were alumni of the University. This initiative immediately began striking responsive chords around the country.
