Fast and Easy DIY Pull-String Pinata Tutorial. When searching for a pinata for Oscar's batman party, we couldn't find anything we liked (we weren't crazy about the idea of smashing batman's head open for some dubble bubble). We looked around the party supply store and Jeremy asked if maybe I could make something out of one of these lanterns - challenge accepted! Paper Lantern - I used round, but I'm guessing any shape would work. Tissue paper in desired colors. Slits in the paper, wire intact. Winning ri...

Days 25 - 30. Day 25 - I'm thankful that Oscar is such a great big brother. He doesn't always set the best example, but he can be really sweet and helpful with Alice. Day 26 - I'm thankful that my kids are growing up with breastfeeding as the norm. Day 27 - I'm thankful that my family loves my cooking (or at least pretends to). Day 28 - and that I can get steel cut oats at the store now, yay for crockpot oatmeal! Day 29 - I'm thankful that it's time to decorate for Christmas! Links to this post. And this...

Did something simple for Alice's birthday invitations this year. Rainbowy paper goodness! I think the fanciest part was having a liner for the envelope. Each invitation was on a different color cardstock and they looked lovely all stacked in order, alas, I forgot to get pictures. I don't have much else to say about these. Links to this post. Handmade gifting: family fun activity binder. I started with the biggest binder I could get and dividers for each month. A couple different pancake recipes for panca...

The experimental pizza adventure continues. Saturday night was our next experimental pizza - Jeremy's turn to pick. He opted for the pesto, sausage and tomato pizza. No surprise that he went for the one with sausage on it.). It was another FANTASTIC combination. I don't know that I've had much pesto (despite being a basil fan), but it was fantastic on the pizza. We used the same whole wheat pizza crust as the previous pizza post. Pesto, Sausage, and Tomato Pizzas. 2 teaspoons olive oil. Shape the dough i...

Tip for the Laundromat. If you're needing to keep lots of quarters nice and neat, $20 in quarters fits perfectly in an m&m's mini tube! We've been using these for a long time, and periodically have to replace them due to them getting broken (they are kid magnets). But I'd say there are worse things than having to eat m&m's. Rainbow Party Activities and Favor bags. For our party time crafting activity, we made "stained glass rainbow" paintings. Each kid got a clear sheet protector (the kind that goes in 3 ring binders) that I had cut the 3 ring side and bottom off of. That made one big clear sheet with a fold in the center. We opened those up and taped them down on a rainbow template so that they knew where to paint their rainbows. It was a pretty fun activity, though kind of messy. Then I hot glued more ribbons to the door ...
